Canadians are renowned for their extreme politeness.

EDIT: I just realised there wasn't a heading on that post... Silly, silly me... back in a sec! :D
Could also be Ireland to be fair, we say sorry a lot when we really mean "excuse me".

Some phones won't charge unless the power output of the charger matches what they require. In this case the built in USB ports might be low-ampage charger compared to the proper charger, so using the charger might be required.

Plus it could be some strange USB port that you've only just met, and you don't know if you can trust your phone with it yet. Sure, there may be power, but what else?

I assumed that, but I think I'm interpreting the y axis wrong. The numbers are lowering, is that telling me that it's happening earlier each year?

That's how I interpreted it, anyway.

That's alright. I thought I was losing it there for a minute.

Any chance there could be a ban going forward on "images" in YLYL that are just walls of text? I thought the thread was supposed to be for funny images, I don't mind a line or two tops for a caption, but stuff this needs to die IMO

What annoyed me most about that post was it mentioned President Obama and a Polish Pope, John Paul 2 died in 2005 and Obama became president in 2009.

Never let the truth get in the way of a joke (but yes, I agree, that annoyed me too. :)).

    Facts are overrated.

That joke is older than the internet. It pops up every now and again with the names changed.

So, will there be an end to those kinds of posts or not?

We try not to have too many rules with regard to pics. This was discussed a number of times in the past and they have been allowed. I don't see them as a problem tbh

Fair enough if that's the consensus. I personally think they're a scourge but if I'm in the minority I'll just keep on scrollin' on by :)

Is it in general or just that particular one (which I admit was annoying). I personally like alot of the text conversation pics.

Text posts in general get on my tits. I can just about deal with the occasional screenshot of an amusing exchange on tinder/Facebook/twitter, though I expect most of them are staged in the hopes that somehow they'll make it to the (ironically named) funsubstance or one of those sites.

The ones that bug me most are the stills from films/tv shows with the dialogue superimposed on top. Fcuk away off to YouTube and post the clip in the funny vids thread

I want to see funny pictures in the funny picture thread. Is that so bad?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,470 ✭✭✭✭Pawwed Rig

From the last 20 posts in the thread 8 of them relied on text to convey the 'funny'. The question would be where to draw the line. We drew it a long time ago at where there is something linked or uploaded then that is fine. Where something is typed then it is removed to here.
The movie example would not even qualify as text in my criteria above.

Yeah I appreciate that it's all subjective and for the mods it's difficult to establish the parameters. Just felt like doing a bitta grumbling giving a little feedback is all :p

Regarding those long text image posts, I tend to have a short attention...look squirrel.

Where was I? Oh yeah, I just scroll past them and not bother reading them. To me, the YLYL thread is for quick giggles. Can't be here all day reading a potentially crap joke and thinking I could have done something better with my time!! :D
