Local Gardai here would need several books of fcpn's on my road when gaa/rugby clubs have matches on. Have to walk dog in middle of road for about 2km's with cars using pavements for parking.

Instead they actually sit outside my house making sure they don't park on bend.

Brilliant! Caught the fines being issued on my dashcam today looks like I don't need to post it now! It was the worst I've ever seen it.

Same in Drumcondra, except when they are there its to mind a gang related house! someone will die cause of that kind of parking.

I know in the UK it is an offence to display an "L" plate inappropriately, however not so in Ireland. It is an offence not to display an "L" or "N" when it is appropriate. It is also an offence for Learner drivers to be using motorways.
I often wonder how much limited Garda resource is wasted stopping cars on the motorway displaying "L" plates which by rights shouldn't be there. Anyone have any idea?

I about those laws in the UK alright and was surprised to hear that it is not the case over here. I completely agree that you should only have L plates dispayed if a learner driver is at the wheel. If someone with a full licence drives the same vehicle at a different time, they should be removed.

Pet peeve of mine is when both an N and an L are on display.

    This too shall pass.

Mine is when they can't even spell L, so you're driving behind a car with a mysterious red 7 in the window.

If you can't put L successfully on your window you cannot be trusted to read road signs or operate a vehicle.

Loads of people also with both the N and L plates on the window at the same time is another no no. takes up half the windscreen.

I couldn't agree more - it obscures a good bit of the windscreen. If there was some way to make it easier to interchange or remove the L or N plates then maybe, just maybe drivers might be more vigilant. I wonder if the RSA or AA have ever looked at this growing problem? Seems to me the Garda needs a break, so they can focus on the Drink Driving fiasco!!

Very simply you can buy the L or N that's sticks to inside of window and can be taken off and applied as many times as you like.

You can also get magnetic ones where you stick to the body or even sticky back ones to do the same.

Also there is a mighty hack of cutting an a4 see through pouch and stick to window then insert whichever is needed.

I'd say it was a house robbery and then then spotted the keys and took the car to get away, very unlikely someone broke in to a house specifically to steal that car.

That one was yesterday, not today. I was actually waiting for the tweet about it, as I was stopped by it heading down to Wexford. Must not have liked the look of me or my 13 year old car (:pac:), as I got the works, breathalysed, and pulled in further along for a walk around the car (guess checking tyres), and probably only avoided being dipped by virtue of driving a petrol.
