Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    because he will support anything and everything the government need him to in return for favours such as swimming pools, bypasses and such. Because basically the electorate have no interest in people governing the country, just getting as much as possible for their local area.

    It is much more complex that that. Tip O'Neill is associated with the phrase that all politics is local. The Healy Rae dynasty is based on the same understanding. It is stupid to assume that the people who vote for them are not intelligent. This is the nonsense that has caused the amount of independents we have now elected to the Dail.

    People in Kerry could point to the stupidity of electing Paul Murphy, Copinger, Barrett and the rest of the AAA and PBP as these will never enter government so cannot represent those who elect them.

    It should be remembered that not only did they win two seats in a 5 seat Kerry constituency but as the local FF director of elections stated ''they made a mistake they should have run three candidates'' as he taught they would have got them elected. Kenny's Twitter feed is again a simplistic misunderstanding of the huge constituency work that these TD's do. Neither is it stroke pulling but rather hard graft at a local level that has got them to the national stage.

    Jackie Healy Rae kept the 97-2001 FF/PD government in power along with Harry Blaney, Mildrid Fox and Tom Gildea. The 2002-2008 government FF/PD had an overall majority but it was thin and Bertie Ahern Healy Rae and Blaney on side. The 2008-2011 FF/Green Government was again dependent on his support as they only had a bare majority.

    jackie healy rae was a long standing member of fiann fail headed up elections for candidates in the south kerry elections
