Pick up Mike Glennon in FA and draft Deshaun Watson if he falls to us in the 2nd round.

I'm not Glennon's biggest fan, especially when you consider he's had pretty much no playing time over the last two seasons. Definitely a massive risk paying a guy that has sat out that long

On first glance I would see what would be needed to get Glennon from Tampa. The Jets are so far away from being a competive team that a trade for Romo would be a waste - you can't rule it out with Woody. As a Clemson fan Watson won't fall into the second round, I think he'll go top 10 and that's with all the draft process to go.

Some reports out of New York indicate that if they have to go to the draft they have particular interest in North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. While I look forward to hearing his views every week it is not professional to be appearing on this while being an active NFL player.

    Concentrate on the game Brandon!

Brian Winters signed a 4 year deal today, solid bit of business. Not letting him get near free agency was a smart move in my opinion

Smart move but it's a steep old price, read somewhere it has him way up the rankings toward best paid guard in the league... glad we held onto him though.

7 million per year is ok over the next ~5 years. That's solid starter money for a guard. They've locked down one of their own that was developed in-house (something the Jets have struggled to do of late) and let's not forget he's still young and (hopefully) getting better, so he will outplay that contract in a year or two. Good deal for both sides. Get Quincy a new contract now and it will be a good start to the off season.

Nick Mangold got cut today:( The right move but still tough to see. One of my favourite Jets and without a doubt a future ROH for the Jets and maybe even enter the HOF. One of best offensive players in franchise history. Switching to Johnson was hard but logical move. Credit them for making proper tough decision. They are putting rebuild over PR.

Folk was another cut this week and like Mangold its extremely tough to see but in the end the right decision.

Painful, but had to happen. I felt the same when Kevin Mawae left, but Mangold replaced him....

Also earlier cut Brno Giacomini; I lived in Seattle for 10+ years and watched him play quite a bit, he always seemed overrated to me, was glad they cut him, he really parlayed the Seahawks Superbowl win into a great deal from the Jets.

Now who to draft... QB? O-Line? And why is everyone looking to dump Sheldon?

Yeah, Breno's subpar play and constant injuries made him a fairly obvious choice to get cut.

Get rid of Revis, Gilchrist and cut one of Marshall/Decker. Then the rebuild will be in full operation, for too many years I've seen the Jets make half arsed attempts at them so hopefully they can do it properly this time around.

I think people want Sheldon shipped because they feel he wont get a contract off the jets so they might as well try get something for him. I personally would much rather see them give Leo a contract over Richardson, no way they could afford 3 massive contracts along the dline.

They could literally go with any position in the draft and they'd be filling a need! Outside of QB I think they need the most help in the secondary, so I'd be happy with them taking a db in the first round, maybe Lattimore or Hooker/Adams. I really don't want to see them take a shot at a QB with the 6th pick.
I think the only position they need to worry about on the o-line is LT, Winters and Carpenter are an above average pair of guards, Shell showed promise at RT towards the end of the season and Johnson can adequately fill in at centre.

Pretty amazing that you guys have had only 2 starting centers since 1998, and both such high calibre ones at that.

yep and when you add in Ferguson at LT for a decade there was some real stability along that line!!

But no brass ring, even with Mawae there.

If lamer Jon Hall hadn't missed that chippie during the first regular season game vs NE that the Jets went on to lose in ... 1998? Maybe they're hosting Denver for the championship that year. 30 yards... miss... Ahh the life of a J E T S fan always something to regret.

I wonder, if Woody ends up the ambassador to England whether that's good or not for the team. I don't think he meddles directly that much, but nor has he been well engaged like, say, the Mara's were. We'll see.

Revis gone now as well, dont think this will be the end of the cuts either

I thought I read that he was handing the team to his brother, if thats the case I cant see to much change!

Marshall said last night that he has been released! So Gilchrist is the last one on my list, I think he will gone by Monday.

LT Kelvin Beachum has been signed, could be a good signing if he can stay fit. I'd just be a bit nervous about the money he gets based on the tackle market so far. LT Beachum, LG Carpenter, C Johnson, RG Winters and RT Ijalana/Shell

K Chandler Catanzaro was also signed, I assume he'll go into a training camp battle with Ross Martin

Josh McCown signed on a one year deal. At 37 this is underwhelming.

Haven't been active here for a while but have been following draft build up closely. Deshawn Watson at 6 for me or else trade back. What do people here think?

Jesus, no! I'd go for Lattimore, Adams or Hooker in the 1st round. In fact I think they should try and aim for safety, cornerback, tightend and someone for the O line in the first three rounds. Leave picking a QB until next year.

Following Joe Caparoso on Twitter and he has interesting thoughts on waiting till next year for a QB. I think Watson is very similar to Mariota and we should pull the trigger with if he is available. Lots of talent deep in the draft but no other player likely to be available that could change the face of the franchise for years to come.

pretty much agree with this, my money would be on a DB being the pick at 6! It would be great if they could find a trade partner though.

I've being following him and that piece makes sense, a hell of a lot can change in a year! I definitely wouldn't be as high on Watson as he is though, but if I was forced to pick a QB @6 i'd go with Watson. Trubisky worries me, the fact he couldn't beat out Marquise Williams his first two years at North Carolina raises a lot of questions

Joe does a good podcast too! The two kids in LA look good for next year. Even as a Clemson fan I'm not sold on Watson, I think you have another year of not much at QB and reassess in 2018 - I would trade out of the six pick and see what you can get - the Jets has to be a decent enough rebuild we need picks.

Lots of debate on Twitter today about Watson at 6 for the Jets. Rich Cimini has good piece on ESPN. Basically he is a winner with some flaws. Reminds me a lot of the debate that went on about Mariota pre his draft. QBs seem to be suffering from over analysis and intangibles such as being a winner and being a "baller" (think Dak) are being forgotten. I am not convinced he is worth the pick at 6 but I can't understand why Trubisky would be taken before him.

Watson's biggest problem right now seems to be the fact that he has 3 years worth of tape!! Scouts are able to look through a much larger catalogue to find flaws in his game. Where as the likes of Trubisky have a much smaller sample size, this seems to be going in Trubisky favour which seems to be a bit stupid to me.
I'd love if both QB's were still on the board at 6 and the Browns came knocking about trading up from 12. The Jets could maybe pick up an extra 2nd and 3rd from a trade like this.
Theres also alot of talk of trading Richardson and the Jets using him to move back into the end of the first round
