It doesn't make a massive difference but for those considering moving to prepay from bill pay -
    According to the notification here
    http://www.three.ie/customer-notification/prepay-service-change-effective-from-3rd-april-2017_20/
the term of service has reduced from 30 to 28 days, i.e. you have to top up every 28 days as opposed to 30.
365/30= 12.16 or 12 top ups per year
365/28= 13.03 or 13 top ups per year

Also according to the notification, you will also be losing the free any network calls at the weekend.

Ya I noticed that myself - it's a big enough change in my opinion.

I'm also not sure what this means:

"As part of your €20 promotion you’ll get a 2GB data allowance to use in the Republic of Ireland or when you roam in the EU. This replaces the Three Like Home service. "

Not sure why the Republic of Ireland is mentioned there. Anyone able to give an explanation? They've already indicated that all you can eat data is remaining

I just called them and gave 30 days notice, all went swimmingly.

Just did that as well, they put me on a sim only contract and I requested an unlock code! When I get that I am gone, probably to Vodafone!

How?? Are you gonna give up your phone or something?
I assume you will be changing provider so you won't be saving that.

Yes,moving away from 3 and their crap mobile reception, probably to Vodafone pay as you go!

Anyone know what will happen to my insurance if I cancel my contract?

Same as, it's not the cost, it's the service I'm moving from. If it was any good I'd stay.

Will ring tomorrow and switch to a rolling 30 day contract and then see what my options are re different networks.

Trying to figure out whether i should go Bill pay sim only for 30pm or prepay for 20pm.

Billpay is less hassle as i dont need to top up, but prepay is cheaper. I havent been prepay for a long time, if you're just using data everyday, how many more days roughly would you get after the 28 days before your 20euro credit would run out?

Anyone know of any decent other sim only plans? Virgin has one but its 25quid now with the first 5 months only 5euro, but its a 24months contract so thats no good.

Have been reading through all these posts and just want to be clear...

Are you guys telling me that I cancel my contract (signed with 3 in June last) and keep the new phone I got at the time with no reprocussions?? Im on the €40 a month plan and reckon meteors sim only plan at €25 a month is plenty for what i need

About 20 minutes I find. Normally listen to Spotify on the way to work, I'll get a text sayign I've spent €x, then I'll get another saying i've spent €x (which is more than the last one) etc etc. The damage is done before i remember to turn it off

The snag is that three aren't going to be unlocking your phone for you, although I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.

Even pre-pay is changing. What are the best pre-pay alternatives? This is annoying :/

Mobile reception is always been grand for me. Always 4g+ and no problems.
I'm in dublin though so there is always that.

Anyone made any amendments to an Open Basic plan?

That plan doesn't seem to be listed for an increase, so you can't cancel if that's the case.

By the way, the European Commission is throwing cold water on the reports of a loophole this morning, which some of us on here are assuming is the reason behind the increase.
    Here's what they're saying.

    · There is no loophole by which part of the domestic data allowance could be regarded as gift or side benefit and would therefore not count when traveling abroad. Doing so would appear like a clear case of circumvention, for which there is no basis in the Roaming Regulation.

    · Thus, under the new rules operators will not be allowed to offer only half a roaming experience to clients ('selective roaming').

    · The National Regulatory Authorities will have a major role in ensuring that the rules of the Roaming Regulation and the Implementing Regulation are not being circumvented. This also clearly means obligations to monitor for the Irish regulator.

    Well, this was posted today.

''The European Commission is aware of reports in the Irish media concerning mobile roaming charges to Irish consumers after June 15th, the date on which the EU "roam like at home" rules take effect.''

Is this just another way for Three to squeeze more cash out of us before this EU roaming rules take place.?

So a woman called me up from 3 last month and offered a 6 month contract with one month free. I said no bit she insisted.

What bugged me us she never explained why. I said what's on it for me? No answer.

What are you guys saying while speaking to 3 as they are giving me the run around about serving 30 days notice etc..

You'd probably lose the equivalent of €4 in loose change in a month... FFS

Going from €25 to €30 is a 20% increase, would you be ok if your other bills went up by 20% across the board.

So then, is it possible to cancel the contract, keep the number active and just drop down to the 20 eur pm pay as you go? Im currently on Classic flex 350..

If thats the case id be dropping from 50 odd to 20 per month.. for no real difference other than paying for calls on the weekends. And i never ring anyone anyway, ever. No brainer really.
