Mechanic needed Laois or close by

The AED unit on series 2 XJ6 can be troublesome.
I would advise buying a new replacement. They are expensive but worth it in the long run.

I also haven't had great experience with the manual choke conversion kits.

With regards to the carburettors, alot of the series 2's were fitted with the 'flat bottom' HIF7 S.U that were nowhere near as reliable as the earlier HD8 fitted to the series 1's etc.
In my opinion they get to a stage of wear where they are going to be untunable and should be replaced with new units.

Again, expensive but well worth it in the long run.

Are you a member of the Irish Jaguar Club?

I'm sure they could point you in the right direction - either to a specialist or to a member who has experience of fixing those carbs (perhaps living close to you). Clubs can be a treasure-trove of information. I'm a member of a few Opel-based clubs and have gleaned loads of information from members - often by just posting a question on their forums.

Some people can be reluctant to pay out the annual club membership fees, often failing to realise how much they can save by getting good advice (and often cheap parts) from other members.
