    The weather is ridiculous but the crowds are out in force.

    When BillB shouted at Edelman to take a fair catch from Atlantas last punt of the game what was his reasoning? I assumed it was a combination of not wanting to risk a horrible fumble and also that the few seconds would be better given to TB to run a play.

    But I've seen a few blogs suggesting that a fair catch field goal attempt may have been the intent if the punt had been a few yards shorter. Apparently around 65/70 is Gosts range for these and they don't fall short so little risk of a return. But the punt length made it a 75 yard attempt and it was abandoned.
    Would have been a wonderfully novel way to win.

    The morning after Bill wins his 7th ring.
    "As of today, and as great as today feels and as great as today is, in all honesty we’re five weeks behind in the 2017 season.’’

    He's like Alex Ferguson of the NFL, the team are just out of the shower and he's looking to the next season. That's why he's the GOAT Coach, the day after the Superbowl and he's already onto 2017.

    Just back from the Parade...horrible weather but it stopped raining when i got to Boston Common. So many people 2X or 3X the amount of people from 2 years ago, it was nuts.

    Highlight was somebody from the crowd throwing a Bud Light can and Ninkovich who was sitting on top of the duck boat, catches and downs it.

    Are all of you guys Americans or are you Irish people living in Boston? Either way, ye are very lucky!

    Bill on the podium after the end of the parade and he starts this chant...

    "No days off!!!"

    "No days off!!!"

    "No days off!!!"

    So that's the rest of the league f****d then.

    I'm just so happy about this win still. It's the best one of them all for me. All the pundits are calling Tom and Bill the greatest of all time both as a tandem and as individuals, deflategate has been firmly put in it's place too. We are the Champions again, we are the most spoiled fans in the world.

    When does America's Game come out? Can't wait to hear what the team was saying on the sidelines. Really wish the team would do an All or Nothing type show.

    Saw it reported on twitter at the time that the fair catch kick was the reason. One of the reporters on Pats side of the field was cited as source

    Only really getting back into gear now today. Taking Monday off and being shook doesnt help!

    But that was some win. Absolutely enthralling and exciting (well, from the 4th quarter on!) It was an utter roller coaster ride to go through that game. Other years have been punch for punch type games with a fantastic finish (good and bad) but this was such a swing in emotions to the utterly despair to the absolute high. I honestly thought the game was gone when they went 28-3 up. There was nothing in history or in the way the game was going that would indicate such a turn around.

    The one solace I took was at half time that if you read the stats, you would think we had the advantage. More TOP, more passing yards. In the end, that did prove an advantage, as it was clear that the Falcons defence couldnt sustain the pressure they were applying and by the end got no where near Brady as they were gassed.

    I thought when Gostkowski hit the post and then had a horrendous onside kick attempt that this was going to be one of those sickening nights. (sidenote: his form is in discussion this off season. 5 missed PATs is not near good enough, and in critical times too. It cost us in the AFC championship game last year, and it would have been utterly sickening if we lost that Superbowl over a missed PAT. Credits on past history are wearing thin and current form needs to be addressed. Thats for later tho). But the defence, and particularly Hightower showed real leadership.

    When the Falcons got that miraculous catch to be on our 22 with 4 mins to go, that was it. Run, run, run, tap it over, 11 points. Game over. But credit the defence, they made 3 great plays to get the ball back. And then Edelmans catch. Fantastic. Such an athletic play and concentration to keep that off the ground. And he had a below average game, so to come up trumps at such a critical time, brilliant.

    Blount was what I expected, never really shows up when it counts and has too many stuffed runs. I think he is rated far higher by fans outside of NE than there. But credit to him, he made some run from the sidelines to get to White when he got the winning TD. And thats another point, the unity shown by players in groupings has been phenomenal this year. Its regular to see Blount, Lewis, White and Bolden celebrate together when one of them get a TD.

    And white. Brilliant. Many Pats fans have been calling for him to get more of the ball. He shows great flashes and ability in games, but doesnt get enough of calls. He really showed up on Sunday though.

    As for Brady, nothing more needs to be said. Undisputed GOAT, and I will never debate it with anyone again. If they dont acknowledge it now, I have no interest in discussing it.

    So thats it for another year. Another privileged year of following what has been the best team in football for the last 17 years. It will go full cycle again soon. But for now, I'm going to enjoy the best QB there has ever been, the best coach there has ever been and the best football team in the NFL.

    Just to talk about Blount off the field, for a guy with a checkered past off the field, I've been really impressed with how he is such a good locker-room guy. Yesterday at the parade he was wearing a Matt Patricia jersey. When they gave him the mic at city hall the first thing he did was scream "James WWWHHHHIIIITTTEEE!!!!!" into it, giving all the credit to the relatively unknown White. On the field after the Super Bowl, he went up to both Brady and BB and screamed at them they are the greatest of all time. He is also a big reason there is such a connection between the Celtics and Pats teams as he goes and sits court-side at the Celtics games and is good buddies with Isiah Thomas. Apparently Tom texted Isiah yesterday "It's your turn". So he's a good personality for the city too.

    On the field, he carried this team through the first 4 games without Tom and for the rest of the season he was a beast, barely missing out on the Pro Bowl. But yeah, it was disappointing to seem him play so poorly in the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl but other than his first fumble of the season, how much of the blame is fully on him? Surely the OLine was under performing too and he wasn't needed when the ATL D was gassing as we were passing so he had no chance at redemption.

    I'd love to have him back but I don't know if its going to work out. I'd say the Pats will only offer him a 1 year slightly above Vet minimum contract as he's a 30 year old RB and he surely after just missing out on the Pro Bowl and playing the best season of his career, thinks this is his last chance to cash in and somebody will pay him so i can't begrudge him wanting that.

    Hopefully they can work it out, maybe a 2 year contract with a low base salary but filled with incentives.

    Fair play to Bennett and McCourty for refusing to visit Trump if they are invited to the White House.

    The plays called weren't the type that allow him to excel either. We've seen all season that he is a beast when gets outside and into the second level.

    In addition, his best performances are in the second half, against a tiring defense. The game didn't allow for that, with us chasing points against the clock.

    Of all his Super Bowl wins, this was surely the most difficult for Brady, tonight and over the course of the season. He said this was undoubtedly the sweetest of the Patriots' five titles, he left little doubt about what he meant. The cool, calculating leader who does not panic.

    Actually they photoshopped somebody else's hand in as in the pic Tom's not wearing his wedding ring.

    I also saw over on Reddit that Brady has a pretty good sample size of Super Bowl games that if you extrapolated his 7 game stats over a 16 game season, his season stats would be:

    4,731 Passing Yards
    34 Touchdowns
    11 Interceptions

    Against the best the NFC has to offer. Not bad :)

    Makes Earl Thomas' comments even more stupid.

    Kraft said that, did Brady say it too?

    After what we witnessed the other night, it's now safe to say we now have a pretty good defense. I think it's our best defense since the Ty Law years and no sooner have we achieved it, when we're probably going to start see it breaking up this offseason.:(

    There were plenty of calls for him to run to the outside. I was wondering why they kept calling it as it didn't go anywhere - I would have thought straight up the middle would have been better but I don't know Blount as well. To be fair though the quick Falcons defense covered that before any blockers managed to shift across giving Blount very little opportunity.

    Yeah, I always thought that his comments were a bit odd. The NFC may have more strength in depth but the Seahawks play in a division where the other three teams went a combined 13-28-1 this season.

    "If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
    if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"
