They are hard finish and any have to be cheap to compensate. They are meant to have a wide pelvis and yes they costs well with a Charolais I'd imagine.

Yea bought a batch of chxsa calves off a lad. All his cows were sales or salerxlm. All orange fluffy char calves which do well in the ring other years and weren't hard finished. Went into great weights as bullocks under 30months

Brother was looking to revolutionise the herd and go all saler.

He met a finisher and told his idea- finisher said he found it very hard to get weight on them.

Had a few of them here a couple of years ago. Out of Charolais and limo cows. great size and lengthy heifers but you would want to be leaving them till 30 months to finish them

I'm looking at the few I have as the equivalent of friesian bullocks, there is a big frame and they'll get there but it won't be quick.

I've seen some fine heifers of them at the thirty months.

Hey lads, any of you have an idea of what aax or hex bulls would be making at the marts? Around 250-300kg? And would anyone know a good mart to pick these up in the leinster area?

A very rough ball park is 5-600, maybe a bit more for quality, try Mountrath on a thursday evening or Roscrea on a wed evening.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

A few aax do go trough the ring in roscrea on a wed evening early, around 5 or 6. Be careful as plenty of jex dressed up as aax go in there too.

What price are dairy aax or hex calves going these days? Ones that would be 2 or 3 months old. I'm only looking for a 2 or 3 in mayo area.

700 tops IMO and in general they run at about 650. On a bad day you could break 600 on the way down.

    Slava Ukrainii

Pass it back down the line to the milk man . He can afford to give you a calf very cheap now with milk on the up!
