Haha, some great stuff above :D €12.70 after driving it there and everything?

Yeah I had heard scrap was €15 a tonne and it only weighs 820kg!
It had an NCT until July next year but I have no idea how it passed!
There were not many parts worth selling even on it,

When steel was worth anything they'd charge you this fee and that fee for tyre/oil/battery (?) disposal.

You would have ended up owing them money if they were still strict about that!

Finally had a chance to snap some photos of it so let's see how I get on with this: https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/99-ford-focus-1-4-lx-parts-breaking-sold-as-is/13610161

Plenty of T+C to cut down on the time wasters.

Yeah probably, if I don't hear from anyone I'll tone it down and maybe not require the photo ID match to start with.

Best of luck with the sale OP :)

I sold my girlfriends old Micra a few years back for around the same money. It was proper hassle ie I had travellers and all sorts of scumbags calling for 2 days straight until I sold the car.

Also it would be no harm to buy a new prepay sim so you can throw it out once you move the car on.

I got rid of my 99 focus just like your one.
Tried adverts for 100€ and not one person commented or called. And my ad was just saying for parts or repair, nothing like I'd need ID or any of that stuff from the buyer. I'd say that wont help it sell.
In the end I got a scrapyard to take it away for €50. :D
Didn't need to fill logbook out,lad came and collected it and gave me a cert of destruction.

Think it through.... they turn up, nobody home so they call you. You call them back to verify number, tell them the deal about key money etc. also tell them they are on camera and theft will be reported. simples!
I'm not sure if that would be a valid defence when in court for speeding, etc.

TBH if I had first looked at that ad on DD without being linked from this thread, I would have assumed it was either a peetake, or Jim Corr was the seller:). So I hope you don't mind some constructive criticism.
Not economical to get through NCT
Maybe add a quick run down or what's wrong with it, what's not economical to some people might be to others. As well as knowing what parts aren't salvageable.
Mileage unknown, NCT Expiry date unknown, Tax Cost Unknown
I can't see any reason not to put up the mileage, unless the dash isn't working? Same with NCT date, put the reg in here and it'll tell you when it expired. And the tax is €385, not that it matters much in this case.
Photo ID (driver's license or passport) must be provided and a photographic copy taken for records, safety and security.
I've no problem with showing ID, it's prudent for both parties to check each others ID for various reasons. But in a private sale, no way would I allow a seller to retain a copy of my information once the VLC is filled out and posted. Yes, I'll take the chance that a seller has a photographic memory. (And yes, I know I sound like Jim Corr with that one:D) Obviously won't be an issue if it's sold for scrap as you should get a certificate of destruction there and then.

Finally, the price. If you're expecting somebody to collect it for scrap, the scrap price of the car probably won't cover the diesel at the moment, never mind time, so be prepared to literally give it away. A lot depends on what the catalytic converter is worth. (EDIT: just reread the OP, taking the €15 might just be the easiest.)

    Good luck with it anyway.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Personally i dont find adverts the best for selling stuff.
There seems to be too many timewasters and stupid offers.

That said DD is going that way too .
I find if people text about something they are more than like not end up buying.
Now i seem to be getting a lot of stupid offers too.
You advertise something for 1750 with 'no offers' in the ad and get asked how much is the minimum you will accept.
Answer 1400. Anything less and i will keep it.
Will you take 700 for cash today??

There are an aweful lot of time wasters out there

Thanks a lot for the feedback again folks. Updated the ad after I jumped it yesterday and it started up after a few minutes, checked the electronic mileage on dash as the battery was completely dead. It seemed to be running grand, but I went to switch on the lights and as soon as I did, the engine just cut and battery seemed completely dead again.

Didn't make so may conditions for the ad either :)
