Last few places still open in the next two days in Rathmines College's two night courses for creative writing - a basic course and a continuation course. These are mostly fiction courses; six students from them have won prizes in the SCC citywide writing contest in each of the last three years. They're technical courses, nuts and bolts of writing, explaining things like narrative, point of view, protagonist, voice, etc; the stories are shared by email so they can be read before class, and then some stories are read (not by their writers) in each class.

These courses are very cheap - €95 for a ten-week course one night a week, which is €9.50 a night; each class is an hour and a half.

There are some other great courses available - a brilliant drama course, and a walking history of Dublin course; language courses all taught by native speakers; and some certified courses run in conjunction with UCD. Brochure here:

Just realised I'd posted a separate thread when there's already a thread here, sorry:

The advanced Creative Writing evening course, known as the Continuation course, is enrolling from 6pm to 8pm on 18 September 2017 and 19 September 2017 at Rathmines College.

This is a craft-based course teaching the nuts and bolts of writing - point of view, narration, protagonists, world-building, etc. The course involves writing every week, with stories emailed to the tutor, who circulates them to the group, and then read out and critiqued in class. It's a relatively small, intimate group.

In every previous year the students have won awards in the CDETB writing contest.

The 10-week course costs €85 altogether, which needs to be paid in cash.
