Think it's unfair for Annalise that opening item is about the boxing instead of her achievement.

Think of the furore there was last week over the same colour medal for the rowers.

I would usually agree if there wasn't a case in point for a far more popular sport. Many decisions for the Irish camp were debateable this week bit MC won this fight hands down. I don't claim to be an expert on any sport but my dad has coached in boxing clubs for a hobby all of his life and this was nothing short of a swindle. It is commonplace in amateur boxing. Either it is a fix or simply being able to take a punch and take it constitutes amateur boxing now MC was like Michael Jackson v Mick Jagger today. It is a simple sport, hit more than you get hit. He did that in double terms today. Put these guys in a pro setting and it's laughable the difference in quality. Any commentators internationally have said almost uniformly the same thing.

Last night hw final was a joke and if the Russians haven't bought medals they put guns to heads.

As a culchie living in DL I am delighted for AM but the European and World Boxing Champ has forsaken 4 years of his life for this and has been pillaged by cheating. That is a bigger story imo.

I hope to god he wins big in the pro game, which he can with his lightning feet.

Just listened to last nighs football show and found it very dull. I like Kilbane but I'm not sure having him co hosting the football show is going to work.

Doesn't help that the only other contributer they had was Andy Mitten who is on far too much for my liking.

I had listened to Football Weekly, Second Captains and The Times podcasts first so maybe I had just over indulged but Off the Ball is nowhere near as good as any of those three.

Yes I agree, I like Kilbane on the show but not for couple of hours each night. The programme has gone a bit stale in the last few months

Can give or take Gilroy but mc intyre is just loathsome in my opinion . Just nothing at all redeemable about him

    Have to disagree there.

Don't listen to this show regularly and wasn't really struck by him either way when i first heard him but the more i've heard him i've found him very good.

He always seems to have done his work/knows what he's talking about and he's able to engage in chat without imagining he's hilarious/ a comedian and can cut things off and get on with it before it becomes annoying; i think the inability to do this is sometimes a big problem on this show.

I actually find myself enjoying the show when he's presenting it and i also think he's a damn good commentator on live GAA games.

Especially as his only interest is in one club, Man United. That said I don't mind listening to Andrew Mangan/Arseblog when they have him on about Arsenal. He's at least interesting to listen to. Mitten's dreary nasal Mancunian tones just make me turn off the radio or fast forward the podcast.

Can't imagine anyone would enjoy listening to him unless you are a United fanatic.

That's Thomas Barry. Good interview with boxer Michael Connolly there as well.

I don't know but David Brady is nailing his colours to the mast.
County is more important than club.

Is dan McDonnell still on the football show? Count me out if he isn't

Nope. Substituted for Kilbane. Kilbane is quite good in fairness.

The football show is excellent with Kilbane. Very entertaining.
I like when he goes off in tangents and tells stories of his past.

Dan has to be on sometimes. Kilbane cant do every evening, every week, and do his weekend work also???

Dan is very clued in around the Irish team. He's also just a sensible analyser of football. He reigns in some of the nonsense joe & Ger come out with. Kilbane comes across as not willing to upset anyone especially in the Irish setup but will have to give him a chance.

Kilbane seems to be the number one now but he wasn't on every night last week so it might be three days a week and then a Saturday or Sunday, not sure if it was Dan on in his place, think it was on Wednesday Kilbane was missing.

I think Dan is doing Tuesdays as Kilbane is on TV3 for the Champions League most Tuesdays.

Dan was on last Tuesday night.

Anyone know when Joe is back? Nathan Murphy doesn't cut it for me as the main presenter.

Another Mayo-fest on OTB last night Murphy and Brady. Yawn. Rmeinded me of the time Murphy was interviewing Brady, Casey and McHale around the fireplace to talk about the 2 All Ireland's they bottled.

I agree with the above about Kevin Kilbane. He's way too nice to replace Woolly, if that is who he was directly brought in to replace. When they are looking through the CVs of ex sports stars, they should have been looking from the prospective broadcasters previous managers. If there are any of their previous managers who ARE prepared to give them a favourable reference, then they are not suitable as a replacement for Woolly.

OTB need to understand that they are not looking for somebody who you want to marry your sister, you're looking for the guy you would never let anywhere near your sister.

And I don't know what it is about Kenny Cunningham but I just cant warm to him at all. He always comes across as "superior", as if he's a complete authority on everything. He's extremely aggressive in the way that he speaks, barking down at the presenters, and occasionally belittling them when they offer their own opinions.

That's probably what I like about Cunningham. He's not afraid to voice an opinion and us happy to have a bit of a row if necessary. I think he reads the game better than most pundits.

    David Brady
    The man says

"Well as the fellla says...Mayo could win but as the fella says as well..Mayo could lose...or it could be a draw as the fella also says sometimes as well"

That basically summed up what Brady said in the 20 minutes he was on

Was he always that poor at speaking?
    He was brutal yesterday evening.
Waste of air time as the man says

There's normally a bit more flow to his ramblings in fairness to him.

Like a lot of Mayo people (including myself) I'd say he's genuinely not sure if Mayo have some sort of slow-burning master plan....or if they're playing pure shoyte and have fluked their way into the Final as the fella says

I agree with the above about Kevin Kilbane. He's way too nice to replace Woolly,

Like I said before, maybe in time he'll discover an edge that doesn't come across on telly. The other guys should encourage him to slag off former team mates, managers etc...

I don't need him to slag off people just be honest.

Example: His take on the Shane Duffy game versus cardiff where he scored 2 goals and got a red card. Killer's take was all centre halves had bad days.

It completely ignored that he had scored an og the previous game and frankly he is playing terribly on a terrible team.

Not only was he not slagging anyone off he just was defending a player who was playing incredibly bad in a fairly ridiculous way.

The truth about Shane Duffy as I see it is that he has never impressed me in any game i've seen him in, certainly as a defender.
