Did the Chinese girls ever test positive for drugs? Or anyone who ran against Sonia?

As far as I know those girls had to endure inhumane training practices for years prior to 1993 including having german shepherds set on them and the occasional beating. They were the first group under the coach Ma Junren. They were given antler soup daily and deer blood and venison. It probably was possible for them to do what they did without having PED's.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Jesus, that is an ignorant and stupid comment to make. Sonia had to suffer drug cheats robbing her of medals and well deserved glory throughout her whole career. She never moaned or complained. She was incredibly sporting and is a true heroine of Irish Athletics (and sport) - probably our best track athlete in our entire history.
Go away with your keyboard bull****.

Sonia O'Sullivan retired achieving ALOT and left the scene with nothing left to prove. She achieved everything that she could and unlike others, reached her potential!. World and European Champion, was not fit in Atlanta 1996 but was going in as World Champ, poor girl got pilloried by the public. She silver at the later stage of her career in 2000. She is a bone fide sporting hero!

Anyone who says anything negative about her career is an idiot.

+1, she is recognised as a world class athlete, one the greats who just never managed to get that gold. She was the best female middle distance runner in the world in the mid-late '90s. She was simply unlucky to come down ill at Atlanta 1996. That was the one that got away. Sonia was a class act and it will probably be a long time again before we see someone of her calibre come out of Ireland.

Would have had so much more without the drug cheats. Remember the 3 Chinese who beat her into 4th? No one had ever heard of them before. More drugs in them than Charley Sheen on a Saturday Night in Vegas.

I'm also suspicious of Gabby Szabo.

Is there white noise over the commentary on RTE or do I need a new telly?

It must be so tempting to just burst into a sprint

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Murphy finishes 18th in race 7, which means her 13th place in race 2 comes into play now.
Should still be 3rd overall now, but no more margin for error.

Check my post history about 9am.

Never knew that about Szabo. Always looked like herself and Sonia had a healthy, mutually respectful rivalry

I can't recall ever seeing an Olympics where there are so many empty seats at events.

2 perfectly good goals ruled out in the space of a minute in the women's footy.

Is it strange that the walk is on in the afternoon and not early morning?

Crazy finish to the Women's QF in football in extra time. US had a perfectly good goal ruled out, then Sweden went straight down the other end and had an even worse decision go against them. Ball was played backwards by a US defender and yet offside was given.
