Wiggins thinks he's Noel Gallagher on wheels. He wishes

he is a self confessed mod! A cool f'ker if you ask me! And he backs it up!Dresses well, great personality, top music taste and a swagger to match!

Then you look at other cyclists like Nicholas Roche and Lance armstrong and you realise just how cool this guy is in a sport of boring fe$$ers!!:D

Some sports are exceptionally well run and others less so , you can't tar them all with the same brush

Sports all have their own independent bodies the Olympic committee is a completely separate entity, fund your sporting bodies as normal but something needs to be done to sort out the corrupt body that is the Irish Olympic Committee.

British still excelling at sitting down to win.

SA could have conceded thanks to that hospital pass, instead they end up strolling in up the other end.

Apart from sorting accreditation and getting athletes and coaches in and out of Games the OCI doesn't have all that much of a function anyway. Hickey likes to flex his muscles a fair bit but there's not much he can do about the day to day running of Irish sport (which is indisputably a good thing most would agree!)

The Olympic Committee is made up of individuals from each of the sporting unions .

Re: Pat Hickey...he's been in situ far too long, a la Blatter.

Would love to see this prime time again - from 20 years ago. Hickey sued David Walsh:

He bottled out of taking a decision on Russia:

He's cosied up to some undesirable types in Baku to get his pet European Games project hosted:

And worst of all he's nominated John Delaney as his successor!!!

He does have a certain swagger. Loved his pose on the leaders throne during the TT in London 2012.

I'd love to see Fiji win this. If you're going to win your first ever medal, it might as well be gold

Anyway, finals of the 7s. Expect Figi to win this, but will be happy if Team GB keep it within 7.5 points.

    :D

This is simply not true. Wiggins is hated by most of Cycling's fans as well as his peers. Cannot hold a candle to the likes of Sagan and Contador in terms of popularity and respect from peers.

Ah Contador, the well respected drug cheat.

I don't know the full procedure but I assume any nominated successor can be challenged, just as Hickey can every so many years. Nobody ever did after that guy, sailing guy who was bank of ireland or something, got routed after telling all and sundry he had the election in the bag! Hickey just went out, marshalled all the small sports behind him and coasted to victory.

You better believe it. He's the most adored and most popular cyclist in the whole world and has been for the greater part of a decade. Peter Sagan is slowly becoming the sports star man though.

Its the sheer amount of drugs he took that had his peers in awe of him. Truly legendary. All the lesser cheats adore him.

Think Figi are going to win this alot more than 7.5!

    :(

Clearly has no knowledge of Contador's drug offense. How am I not surprised.

    Like Blatter did in FIFA

Anyway, away from the seedy side of sport, Fiji have just ran in a third try.

Clive Woodward on BBC commentary sounds like he's going to burst into tears:D

The Chineese girl competing in the gymnastics is no way 16 years old, looks no more than 10 or 11.

She's not 16. She's 20. She was severely malnourished as a baby and child due to her extremely poor background. Her story is everywhere - her name is Shang Chunsong.

Most people are not cycling fans and definatly wouldn't know who Sagan or Contador are. Most people in the UK wouldn't know who Froome or Cavendish are either. Chris Hoy and Wiggins would be a only ones with significant exposure outside of cycling with Wiggins being the most known despite hiding for a couple of years.
