Send it back through the return process. Free post in gpo. Say its faulty so you get a refund including postage. Normally they issue the refund the morning they receive it. Then reorder at cheaper price.

Sometimes works the other way. Because the 10 didn't get shipped until a month after I ordered, I ended up paying more when they did finally charge. We always lose :D

Appealed through online chat. Nice guy but did nothing. Then to his boss on email. Standard reply saying tough. Appealed further. Copy and paste email again.
Next step is to write a letter...so I did and emailed it to HQ. Gave out a bit about the situation but more the way the appeals were nothing short of rude copy and paste replies who you could tell didn't even read my complaints.

Got a voucher for £10. Not normally one to complain, but justice was done here. I'm satisfied.

Apologies if this has been brought up already here but can anyone recommend a good USB C cable for this device?
My carrier did not provide any spare leads with the bundle & It's a nuisance having to bring the cable/plug to work each day
HTC don't have any available on their website & I've read horror stories regarding dodgy third party versions overheating etc
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    No problems so far.

Anybody buy directly from HTC Ireland and know how long they take to deliver? 20 euro for express shipping (15 for standard) is pretty steep but I'm not fussy if they are reliable and quick!

Think you'd be mad to use HTC ireland when you can get it for a good €100 cheaper from HTC UK. (As well as free express delivery, followed by €4 for parcel wizard/motel).

price is not really an issue, I'm more interested in how quickly I can have the phone in my hands as I'm currently phone-less (on a side-note I've never used a parcel forwarding service and would probably prefer to be ordering something that I didnt need so badly and maybe a little less expensve)

No probs...I used extended liability with Parcel Motel, just in case.

I know at least one person here did use HTC Ireland. Maybe try tweeting them and ask them how long delivery takes?

I pre-ordered on HTC Ireland and had my phone on release day and 2 days earlier than those on here who ordered from UK.

Yeah I went with the UK site in the end, I figured I could get some accesories etc with the extra cash. Got a shipping confirmation e-mail this morning but no info available on the shipping website as of yet

If I was to buy one of these from three is there any quick and reliable unlock sites? And is there a way to unbrand it and still get OTA updates? In bad coverage for the day and coverage is making a search a nightmare. Any help appreciated.

    Something about sandwiches

Only way is to get it unlocked from Three directly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,444 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

I got the HTC 10 Ice View cover delivered the other day.

Have to say it is stylish, sleek looks good. First time I have ever had to look at an instruction book for a phone cover :D I'm sure there are other covers out there which would give better protection in the event of drops etc, but this does seem pretty decent.

So far, would definitely recommend it.... if you can get over the price tag!

Ah ok, I thought I'd be able to buy a code for it and be done. Thanks.

Also got it a couple of days ago, don't like it. Had the dot view on my M8, thought it was ok. Really hoped this would be a step forward, but it's not really.

The cover still won't close nicely if you've been using it for a while with the flap open. Taking photos with the flap closed is nice and all, but you have no idea if the pic is focussed. I also find the notification access fairly pointless, as I use a smart watch anyway. It also adds a bit more bulk than I'd like. I also don't really like the colours used (you can't change them in settings, right?), although I guess I could edit them if I was that bothered.

Maybe I'm just a bit disappointed, as I hoped for more.

Three will unlock it once you top up 130 euro with the phone. Takes about 10 days.

Once unlocked you can root the phone, install s-off, and change the carrier id. All easily done following various posts on XDA. Then you can flash the international firmware. This turns it into an international phone with no branding. You will still get the OTA updates directly from HTC Unfortunately it removes root and so the bloat is still there (Facebook, instagram and a few other apps).

Quick one for you. The other day I got an OTA update on my phone from Viper 10.2.2.0 to 10.2.3.0. So I updated and of course I updated to latest ViperDark theme as well. But there is a 10.2.4.0 rom on the site now. Should I flash this and is it safe to do a dirty flash ? Don't want to have to setup my apps again though I suppose I could use Titanium to simply do a batch restore.

Also, before I flashed viper a couple of weeks ago I made my phone an international ruu and flashed 1.8.0.401.1 and CID to HTC___001. Link below.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297

However I noticed the heading for the latest Viper Rom mentions 1.8.0.401.3
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/rom-21-02-viper10-1-0-0-tweaks-hub-t3379151

So if I flash to the latest Viper will I also get 1.8.0.401.3 ?
There doesn't seem to be an RUU available for 1.8.401.3 yet.

    Thanks

There doesn't seem to be an RUU available for 1.8.401.3 yet.

    Thanks

There isn't always an RUU available for new bases. Quite often, there is just an OTA, and a firmware zip is made available for it. Flashing an RUU isn't a necessary thing, I've done it probably less than 10 times ever, and usually it's just to make a phone stock before selling.

Regarding the move from .1 to .3, there were no changes to the firmware, and only a couple of apks were updated (Settings and SystemUI, I think), so there's no need to change your firmware.

Thanks. Interestingly my friends phone was originally on Three (1.80.771.1, HG3__003). I rooted it, sofa's, changed CID to HTC__001, and installed 1.80.401.1 RUU (signed mode). He wanted this so he could receive updates quicker and not wait for Three but nothing from HTC so far. The phone of course is not longer rooted after flashing the RUU.

I just got him to go into recovery mode and flash this. It's now at 401.3.

I will likely re-root it again for him and put viper on this time.

Maybe I'm just a bit disappointed, as I hoped for more.
if you want to sell i might be interested in buying...

Will let you know if I decide to. At the moment, I'm just messing with it, playing around with changing the colours it displays. Not a simple job, unfortunately.
