Anyone figured out at what speed the app decides you're driving? Think I might hold up some traffic on the way home today...

I'm not sure. I think Ingress was set to 35kph. I'm sure I have read that somewhere. I've been using the app on the Luas. You still seem to get pokemon spawning no matter how slow/fast you are going (just my observation, I could be wrong) but it definitely stops counting steps/distance traveled once the Luas picks up speed. So if I go from St. Stephen's Green to Sandyford on the Luas, I might get less than 1km counted towards the distance traveled for the eggs. That's with the app open the whole time.

I could have walked/ran a longer distance in the time it took me to do that trip so I don't think it is worth it.

Aye. Heaps of Pokestops in Derry city centre. The Bogside has loads as well because of all the murals.

Ive only seen guesses but around 10-12kmph+ seems to be the consensus, basically rush hour is now your firend

For the craic I drove around the town here a few days ago at 10kmph and I didnt register any of it as walking towards my egg :(

I get the Luas everyday and for the slower parts around the city centre it is deffinitely registering it no idea what speed it goes at though

I had mines on in the car the other day, I was able to get 1km "walked" from a 4 km drive. Part of it was driving through the estate so probably wasn't doing great speeds.

Does it matter which faction you pick when you let to level 5?

Generally speaking, not really. However, you can work with people on your team to battle gyms apparently, so if you have some friends playing too, it could be worth coordinating to get on the same team.

    Aha.

    Can you change teams?

Not that I'm aware of, though the game tells you so little that it nearly wouldn't surprise me if you could change somehow.

Is there consensus on here about factions?

I don't think so. From what I've seen online though, most people are going either Red or Blue (possibly cause they were the original two outside of Japan), and comparatively little love going round for Yellow. I know in Galway, pretty much every gym I've seen has been controlled by either Red or Blue.

Theres a yellow in portlaoise so I went Red just to take his gym over eventually haha

Yeah, I briefly saw a gym going from Blue to Yellow here, only to shift to Red in about half an hour.

I only had a brief stopover in Longford that day, so I didn't get to see much of that :P

One thing I found funny was one of the pokéstops in Longford was listed as "Giant Lego". Dunno who thought that's what they looked like, they were just big grey concrete blocks used to block cars off :pac:

You get more XP from taking over a gym than you do from training a gym of your own colour.

I picked yellow, so now there's more gyms for me to take over

It was in between Durkin's and the Specsavers in town, a little down from Market Square. The blocks aren't even really visible from the road tbh, and cause there's nothing really of note about them it just feels odd that they were made into a spot :P

There's an app available that allows you to chat with other PoGo players in your area within a radius of 30km, which you can make smaller if you want. Can share locations where you caught stuff.

Link below if it appeals to anyone...

    Messenger For Pokemon Go

Oh and it doesn't close Pokemon Go when you use it, so you can still catch something if it pops up :)

Is it just me or is Dublin inundated with Drowzees, they're everywhere.

Got an Onix out of a 10k egg, delighted, but only cp. So not really sure how to get him in anyway to a respectable CP.

Lucky Eggs seem to be the business too. I got one for levelling up. Double XP for 30 mins. Quick way to level if there's a few new uncaught pokemon around ye.

inscenseI set off 3 so far.

    first one worked

second time: servers kept freezig everytime I caught one

third time: servers locked me out immediately after placing it, eventually got signed back in with 1 min to go

hang on to them until the servers improve would be my advice that's what I'm doinng with my magic eggs too for the moment

My workplace is a Pokéstop so having only started this morning, I'm racking up the Pokéballs and egg things. I have no idea where to find the eggs in the menu?

Go to your list of captured Pokemon and swipe right.

in the section where you look at the pokemon you've caught, there's a tab that'll say eggs, with a number out of 9.

Thanks! And what does the Transfer button do when viewing a captured Pokemon?
