By the way I noticed on the viper pulldown there is a switch called 'Task Manager' beside the 'Reboot' switch. When you select 'Task Manager' you get the message 'Can't start activity. Application not found' :(
Edit : Once I reordered the buttons 'Task Manager' vanished !!

Applied the red venom status bar theme, and then the custom settings icons for viper also in red. They work great, but now the native quick settings pulldown is broken. arrrgghhh. once I rebooted and messed around a bit, all working again. fun times.

I think viper is definitely worth the time to play around with.

Send it back through the return process. Free post in gpo. Say its faulty so you get a refund including postage. Normally they issue the refund the morning they receive it. Then reorder at cheaper price.

    1. not the point. i held off on ordering it till it was in stock. i don't expect anyone who advertises a product as being in stock to take 2 weeks before putting it in the post.
    2. sending it back and getting a refund ...i will loose out on exchange rate
    3. price charged should be at todays rate when it was shipped... not the rate they advertised 2 weeks ago when they didn't bother to send it to me

Sometimes works the other way. Because the 10 didn't get shipped until a month after I ordered, I ended up paying more when they did finally charge. We always lose :D

was that because they hiked the price up or because the sterling/euro price changed

i can't believe they can up the price on an order...can't be legal if you think you are paying one price and they charge a higher price

That was due to exchange rate, and technically it was only for UK residents, so I can't really complain. Bit different to your situation, though.

Is the Ice View as bad as this review makes out
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmLQJ1hjy18

Flimsy, attracts grease from fingers, cover doesn't sit properly, back scratches easily, no protection on bottom etc...

By the way, when I examined my HTC 10 on day 1 (carbon colour) I noticed some defects on the antenna bands on the top and bottom. It's almost like the coating has gaps here and there. They look like tiny little nicks Very hard to spot. Not worried as reception is good. And I doubt a 'normal' person would notice. So far no scratches or marks on the thing which is great. I haven't had to baby it as much as the S7. The design is great. I settled on a fairly cheap thin spigen rugged armour case (nothing really rugged about it). To date this is my favourite phone of all the flagships. I just wish it came in 5.5 or even 5.7 inch :)

Here are my HTC 10 home and setting screens after installing Viper and some of Basil3's mods. Well worth it. What's really great is you still have access to the HTC theme store too. Highly recommend this over the stock rom. And of course rooting means no more bloatware.

In terms of getting the battery to last the advertised 2 days, what have people been doing?

I've Xposed with Greenify and Amplify.
And of course I've battery saver mode on constantly.

Never got it past a day and a half with light use. Haven't put on Greenify yet. Will give it a go.

One thing I did do was get rid of google now, search and the google app itself. Plus on my google account I disabled location history. It's made a big difference. Also since I moved from 3 back to VF the radios aren't struggling for a signal. So can get home at night and still have 50% battery left and not 10-15% as before.

On another note, every time I try to record something with google keep I get the message 'voice recording is not available'. Works fine inside google messenger, hangouts and other apps. Any ideas anyone ?

Looks nice! Could maybe go with making your pull-down header a couple of shades darker in tweaks :D

    I'd assume settings > apps > Keep > permissions > allow microphone.

I know some guys who do, without using greenify etc. They only have 3-4 hours screen on time over the two days, though.

Personally, I would get rid of all that stuff, stop using power saver, and just use your phone, charging it every night.

Yep, I had it as dark as the quick settings at one point. Will play with it. Thanks.

Thank s. Yes, i did that. Reinstalled app too. Microphone still not working. Very annoying.

<edit> Problem solved. Google now uses the voice part of the google app which I had removed :) Reinstalled google and all working again.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/htc/comments/4iq0qg/htc_10_scratches/

I have these tiny scratches too out of the box. Actually they are not really scratches as it just seems that the antenna coating is very light and inconsistent in places and what's underneath is showing through. Noticed it actually on day 1 when I was in a bright room. You won't notice it in normal usage. And I reckon that pic I linked to was taken in very bright light. Friends 10 is the same. But another friend has the silver and it's perfect.

    Anyone else notice this ?

Well it's not restricting my usage. I do just use my phone. Its 1:30am and I'm on 46%. That's fairly respectable. This will last me until tomorrow evening then I'll lob it on quick charge for 30+ mins and I'll be sorted.

Where the benefits come into play here are when I'm at electric picnic or somewhere that I can't freely charge the phone.

Yeah, I've tried living like that but it just ends up being a pain. I used to use power saver back when you could choose which things power saver affected, but that got dropped on the M9.

I have everything syncing, auto brightness, google now, location on, smart watch connected. Don't restrict anything, and have a quick charge battery pack for the situations you mention above.

The 10 is still a long way off two day battery life, but you can get one decent day without restricting anything.

I cannot access the 4 apps on the top row of my homescreen anymore ,i could uninstall them but that will not solve why the touchscreen is not working anymore,i realise it will be something simple ,any ideas please

You obviously tried moving other apps to the top of the homescreen? I would say try clearing the cache. If that doesn't work do a factory restore. After that its warranty so return to where you bought it.

I can put the apps on the screen twice and access them that way ,out of the country for a month so dont think i will do a factory restore till back ,if no good will go back to the shop, not a major issue but a bit annoying ,thank you
Edit phone updated yesterday so must have happened then

It's only on your homescreen? It's fine when you're in your app drawer, or within another app?

If its JUST on the launcher home screen and NOT in the app drawer and NOT in other apps, then its a problem with your launcher.
I'd install another launcher and see if its the same.

I had a problem the other day with ny Nexus 9 where it seemed like the profile got corrupted. The pull down menu stopped working, I couldn't move app icons. In the end I fixed it by running the following command:
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity

actually, I ran it from Terminal Emulator without the "adb shell" part, eg:
    am start -n com.google.android.setupwizard/.SetupWizardTestActivity

    Any ideas?

I'm guessing you've flashed a hotfix from the hub over a theme? Just flash the theme again. ViperDark has all hotfixes included in it.

Other option is just dirty flash ROM, and go back to stock appearance.
