Seems a bit strange.

I'll give them a go though. I'm delighted there's another restaurant in Blanch, and especially one that does brunch.

That would be pretty typical pricing for a côte de bœuf. It's more than likely for 2 people, although it should really specify that.

Menu looks good. Not that expensive either.

58 is standard for cote du boeuf, of course it's for two people. Brunch is mainly in the 6-8 euro range.

I'm looking forward to checking it out.

had a quick look in Rudys yesterday. Was disappointed that we aren't getting a family burger style place but the decor was pretty nice. it is not a family place by any means. The staff on duty said they are not settled on the menu yet and they will see how it goes. It is certainly at the upper reaches of the price range for the suburbs but that is not to say it wont work. The menu is on line at http://rudysrestaurant.ie/ and it is impressive enough. Blanch is starting to have a vastly improved selection of places to eat and get coffee.

Wow! Just looked at the menu online. They're certainly aiming at the higher end of the market. No way am I paying those prices without knowing the food is exceptional. Even in town those prices would be high.

Not sure. It won't make much business if they are add on extras! I passed today and it's open. I'll give it a few weeks before venturing in so that they can sort out any potential teething issues.

I find maximillians is very overpriced too for what you get but the place is always jammed! Maybe it's just me but I don't get why at all, the food is fine, not amazing. Bit disappointed there's now two overpriced restaurants in the village.

Maybe the a la carte is overpriced but we went for an early bird in Maxmillians a couple of weeks ago and got 2 fantastic and well presented courses and a bottle of wine for €50. That was great value imo. The only slight drawback I had was that the place was deserted....but it was a Monday evening.

This is a great deal in Maxmillians alright, all day sun to thursday. I have found that the staff are very reluctant to mention it when you go in. I have asked a few times and the spend about 10 minutes pretending they don't know about the deal and have to search for the menu. Perhaps it has changed now but I found they seemed to resent being asked for the deal.

We had lunch in Rudy's today and really liked it. Food was great (mackerel salad and pulled pork sandwich followed by two gorgeous desserts) and service was brilliant. Place wasn't packed but was busy enough. Looking forward to trying out the brunch soon.

Had a look in Sostrene Grene earlier...it's really just a slightly more upmarket/expensive Tiger shop tbh.

Went back for brunch yesterday around 2pm and the place was very busy with a steady stream of diners and only 1 or 2 free tables the whole time we were there. Only 2 wait staff seemed to be on duty so service was a little slow but still good.

I had the beans on toast which was a mixture of haricot beans in a tomato sauce with diced up pudding and streaky bacon on a slice of toasted sourdough. It didn't look like much but I found it really tasty and very filling.

My friend had the huevos rancheros which he thought were delicious - light but spicy. We then split an order of pancakes - 2 pancakes with maple syrup strawberries, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of house made hazelnut chocolate with sea salt. It was more mousse like than Nutella and not as sweet but tasted yum.

I saw other diners order the club sandwich and the fry, both look like big portions.

My only criticism (so far, based on 2 visits) is IMO the coffees are small and expensive for what they are - €3.50.

Looking forward to making this a regular spot to visit.

Great news. Chopped opening a second D15 store in Blanchardstown next week, July 21st. I tried my first wrap in their Mulhuddart one last week - divine and I love how they prepare them!!

Anyone know where in Blanch it is opening- village or the Centre?

It's where the Spar used to be in Westend opposite the AIB

I went in for a look yesterday with 2 kids and a buggy in tow. I went in and turned left (as I've now realised I always do..must have an interior compass or something:-) ) The shop assistant behind the cash register made a bee line for me and told me I had to go round the shop the opposite way. They have a sign when you walk in pointing right but it's not obvious. It make sense for everyone to walk the same way if space is tight but if the odd person ends up going a different way so what?

I've been in there twice now. The first time I was handed my items after I paid. I asked for a bag and was told that the paper bags behind the counter were 30c and there were other more expensive ones (possible non-paper, can't remember) there too. Almost as an afterthought I was told that there were free bags over to the left that I could help myself to. I thought it was strange that she didn't try to explain any of this until I asked for a bag. Where did she think I was going to put my stuff? Of course if we were allowed walk around the wrong way I would have seen the bag station before I got to the till. :pac:

I like it though. It has some lovely things.

I felt a bit scolded or something. Strange experience. I'll give it another go though cos I do actually want to see what they have in stock..I'll obey the rules next time!
