clubmac.ie : Are they shooting themselves in the foot ? What we need is one unified Irish Mac users club. The webpage is ugly and unappealing.

I mean for €20 euro per year you get to:

    # Attend monthly meetings in Dublin from September to May.

    # Access forum for exchange of views, gossip, and even information relating to Macintosh issues.

    # Receive technical support via our Web Board.

    # Participate in other events organised by ClubMac

Is anyone a member ? €20 for poor forums seems a bit much to be honest.

    Hey,

I had a look into them when I started using Macs for the first time. The €20 fee put me off completely. I was able to find a much better web site with a more subtanial user base for *free*. Take a look at macfora.com, yes admittedly most of the people on there are from america and if you have a problem in the morning it more than likely won't get answered till the afternoon. Also macfora have a much nicer looking website that fits in nicely with the Aqua theme.

This place is alright too cept there isn't that many users. (or so it appears)

Era thats just my two cense.

    Rgds,
    A.

Don't take me up wrongly anyone , I want to promote the mac fan base in Ireland just like anyone else but I don't find clubmac.ie appealing.

found them to be most helpful

have been to two meetings - one was a presentation by Apple outlinging their plans in Ireland, another was a Hands-On showcasing some apps and tecnology - nice Q&A sessions at the start for anyone who has a Q or A on any Mac related topics

with their expenses like the web site, getting a place to hold the meetings, admin etc. spreading it out over the year it would be a nominal enough fee for me (Eur 1.66 a month)

    my thoughts anyhow,

To be honest, they seem to be in it for profit.. And Id rather see another non-profit, cheap (volunteer-based maybe) club- and Id join it straight away being the mad fan I am. I wonder what the treasury report was like from the AGM a couple of months ago..

for profit? - by charging a person Eur 20 a year - not sure how that would add up to a whole lot...

i've been to two interesting meetings so far and had three techie questions answered, and had the opportunity of helping out someone who was looking for the answer to another

personally don't find Eur 1.66 a month to be that excessive,
