Car rental in Luxor (Egypt)

Hi All, has anyone rentad a car in Luxor (Egypt, not Las Vegas as Google and Altavista seem to think)? I can't seem to find any rental offices in Luxor...they're all in Cairo or other far flung exotic places. I'm flying into Luxor...so it's my only choice! Thanks.

Where do you wanna drive to ? There are not many places you could drive to from Luxor. If you wanna drive to Hurghada, forget it. The street goes through a kind of military area, and you only can drive there as part of an Armed Convoy. Normally only Busses. That was three years ago, but my sister was there a few months ago, and it was still the same.

I think with a taxi you are better off...quite cheap there...not as in Ireland....
