The Premiership finnished top of the fair play leagues so man City get to play in Europe next season, which I kind of like the idea of :).

Also the UEFA cup is going to be played on alternate weeks to the CL which is a good idea both for TV and the tournament which is curently the poor relation.

Also does anyone know, now a group srage has been jettisoned from the CL, does any team that finnishes 3rd in the group stage still get to play in UEFA Cup or is that now gone?

    Mike.

Nevermind Man City, Cork City might be getting into the UEFA Cup on the fair play ticket as well.

Fair Play to Man City. They are an exciting team and I have always liked Kevin Keegan's teams as the go all out!
    Good Luck to them!

I'll just point out the obvious Cork City v. Man City as a potential banana skin - for Cork :)

Yeah it's good news for Man City and especially for Nicky Anelka.

He wants and needs to be playing in Europe, the guy has some serious talent when he wants to use it.And if Man City don't keep getting a regular europe spot (CL/Uefa) i can't see him hanging around too long. Can't blame him either.

Once again though, teams who are eliminated from the final qualifying round of the Champions League will go into the Uefa Cup first round.

And those who finish third in the opening group phase of the Champions League will go into the third round, which will not be played until next February.
