Real rendezvous for Wenger - Report

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has met Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in Paris, French sports paper L'Equipe reported on Tuesday.

The paper reports that Wenger met Perez, Real's director of sport Jorge Valdano and agent Marc Roger in the departures lounge at Orly airport in Paris last Friday afternoon and that the party then adjourned to a hotel.

Wenger, contacted by L'Equipe on Monday evening, limited himself to saying: "I met lots of people on Friday."

He then told the paper: "I am still contracted for two years at Arsenal and I will go to the end of this engagement.

"We will see what happens after that but I could even stay at Arsenal."

Current Real coach Vicente del Bosque's current deal expires in the summer and, after the club was eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals by Juventus, the outgoing European champions put the contract talks on hold.

The paper reports that Wenger was in Orly after visiting Switzerland while Perez is said to have arrived by private jet. Valdano came on a regular airline flight.

"I would luv it" if he left but cannot see it.
Still this has been rumbling on for a nice while now, and if Madrid want something they seem to nearly get it all the time.

I doubt he will move. Anyway you'd miss the nice interaction between himself and old Sir Alco :)

As for Madrid always getting what they want well they didn't get Vieira last year did they :)

    Gandalf.

Its just talk I reckon. Wenger has built a class team Arsenal. Hes going nowhere imo.

Nah, he's going nowhere. He must be sick to the bones for throwing away the title, so he'll desperately want to win it next season. Also, he wants to win the Champs League with Arsenal so he'll there for at least another 10 years !

I reckon if Arsene went he could pull a lot of Arsenals French talent along with him. The premier league would be a poorer place for it but maybe Arsenes ego wouldn't be able to turn down the chance.

Probably not very realistic though. Wenger --> Madrid, Houllier --> Arsenal, O'Neill --> Liverpool, pretty sweet.

thats the craziest thing I ever heard, crazy I tells you.......

I think Arsene Wenger will be mighty pissed off at losing the league and would like another crack at Sir Alecoco the clown next year.

That's not only crazy, it's hilarious at the mere thought of GH going to Arsenal. :D:D Oh dear make it stop:p

Anyway I think Arsene will stay where he is. He's spent too long building his team. He will stay IMO

I start every season believing that Liverpool can win the league, which is of course crazy. For me this isn't too big a stretch of the imagination.

I'm losing my sense of perspicasity

I just heard that Wenger has committed himself to seeing out the rest of his contract at Highbury. Why on earth would Real Madrid bin del Bosque, cos he "only" reached the CL semi-final this year!?

With the team at his disposal and the money they have spent they should win every competition they enter. As it is they are second in La Liga and out of the European Cup. I am not sure how they have faired in the Spanish Cup but it is very possible they will end the season empty handed. I think he should be sacked. But I do think it would be a bit scary to put a quality manager like Wenger in there.

I don't think Madrid are the most patient of teams when they finish the season empty handed. Having said that, I don't think they had a particulary bad season.

Is it 1year Wenger has left on his current contract? Maybe they will give Del Bosque until then to win some silverware.
