"Comedy" and "Thrillers" in Xtra Vision

Every time I seem to walk into an Xtravision shop recently all I see are shelves full of the same bad movies..The dawning of DVD has already assimilated half the store, and popularity of Xbox and PS2 takes up another quarter..

in the last few weeks they have put up a coke machine and sweet rack in my clontarf shop ( all at inflated prices and completely unnecessary as there is a newsagent on one side and an off-license on the other that everyone uses instead?!)

I remember not so long ago that my Xtravision store even had a world cinema section.. now it's all gone and apart from "Comedy" and "thriller" sections.. Dusty from their lack of use.. the store seems to have room for nothing else except Hollywoods latest blurb..

Don't get me wrong.. I also remember that not so long ago Xtravision went into liquidation.. I know the place has to make money, but I know that a lot of people would give it the business if they put in just a few of the old classics on display.. Maybe a few documentaries on Space or dinosaurs? Some live concerts? Foreign Films or Manga? ..replace the Ghostbusters and Uncle Bucks with Casablanca, Michael Palin’s Sahara or U2 Live in Mexico.. All personal preferences I know.. But I’m sure you’d have your own, and it’s better than taking up space with something that’s shown regularly on TV and nobody is ever going to rent again..

I was going to say thet the are becoming too much like blockbusters.. but then I found out who owns them :(

Why are you looking for the porn section in xtravision, you have loads of them in your house, is that not enough ?

hrmmmm we used to own a video shop in tramore for a while we had a really good porn section, still have one of the best horror sections anywhere, decent classic comedy section and one of the few places ive seen a sports section. the place is still open i dont know how coz now theres an extravision and it has f$ck all in it but everyone goes there.

Don't be knocking Ghostbusters, I'd watch anyday before Casablanca.
But yes, Xtra Vision and the like mainly deal with the Hollywood blockbusters and the like. Not much space for the slightly obscure. But which is going to rent better, xXx or La Haine?
Oh,there's a films board you know.
