Planetside Outfit

Theres a fair amount of intrest in planetside, so why dont we form an outfit. The one decision that has to be made is what faction to play if were all going to form one. The differences between factions are explained here, so have a read before voting. Any other suggestions/comments would be nice aswell

Well TR would be my first choice, but if I had to pick another it would be VS, they caused a much larger problem for TR in the beta than nc could ever hope to achieve

I dunno Monty, I always found VS piss-easy to take on. Their MAXes suck and their weapons suck. NC are the ones who own me, with their Jackhammers up close, Gauss at range, MAXes that just won't die, uber tanks, missiles that slam into our AMS repeatedly from miles away..

Well I'm not pushed either way as I haven't played the game yet but from a quick read through I'd go for NC. I voted for "Doesnt matter, ill be joining anyway" as there are people with more know how than me

Like El Marco I haven't played the Beta so I have voted for 'Doesn't matter....'

A boards outfit is a great idea and the great thing about Planetside is that the outfit can be as large as we have members for.

I just looking forward to teaming up with folk from Boards.
Most of us have been around a long time and aint no fly by night merchants.
Theres a good deal of experience in online gaming among the posters interested in Planetside and I'm sure we could make it fun.
Since I havent played Beta I'll take the advice of you guys who have played.
Any weakness in a faction is usually fixed through nerfs etc eventually anyway.

"Doesn't matter" for me too. I played VS in Beta so I wouldnt mind maybe trying another side, but I'm not at all pushed really.
Getting a regular crew to play with will be great, especially since most of us will be in the same time zone.

On Thursday night perhaps or maybe Friday night while downloading any patches?.
I'd like a guiding hand in first few days .
Or could some Beta guy post how to communicate in-game regarding what to do and what not to do.
It is fun I know to find your own feet and explore your surroundings at first in a new game but it's also nice to have a few people to call upon for advice.
Is there a planetside.ie yet?

Granted the nc max's were no pushover, that damned shotgun, they are a pretty tempting side but there was one way to take thier main advantage away...a punisher or thumper with emp grenades...kills the shield for about 2 min, then switch to frag or plasma grenades and they fall quite quikly

That's very subtle, I usually slap 'em with a couple of decimators! Anyway, NC are 'teh win' in my opinion, since they have the best infantry weapons (Gauss and Jackhammer) and I spend all my time as infantry.

I never got the chance to play the beta (1.3gigs eck) but Planetside is sounding rather tasty.

I take it that an outfit would be the equivalent of a clan (albeit on a much larger scale)?

Don't know if I'll be playing planetside at the moment, I got to BF4/5 in the beta and must say I didn't enjoy it but I'm giving the neocron free trial a go at the moment. But the servers are depressingly empty when I log on in the evenings in US time. Only 94 on pluto last night not exactly massive. Anyway I voted Doesn't matter, I'll trust in the more experienced of ye to pick a good side and hope for the best.

If you're in beta, you don't need to install anything. Just run the beta copy and after a very small patch it will ask you for a new reg key.

i wiped my beta copy and reinstalled from cd., the patches took about 10 minutes, but it doesn't
say how fast you're downloading and I often get 200kB+. So if you've broadband it shouldnt take long, and if you're on isdn, then i'd guess an hour or so.

It's out on Friday the 23rd. but I'm buying mine from play.com, about 15 euro cheaper.

Yeah I ordered from Play.com too (says its packing today) but I'm still waiting on GTA Vice city which was posted Tuesday 13th from them so it may be quicker to just buy it in the shops here if its out.

I was in there today and asked..they actually had them there ins torage but wouldnt sell me one even if I begged..so I was told.
