Why is there a delay between Astra and Hotbird on RTE Radio 1? On the subject of radio I feel people could talk more on radio. It was a pity the Radio Poll ended.

Rte on astra is uplinked from dublin direct to the astra and via hotbird it is reflected from World Radio Network

On a side note, is the RTE R1 listed on Sky EPG, the same one that is uploaded by WRN, or was it replaced by the stereo version on the same tp as other RTE's and TV3?

Nope, still the WRN feed is the one on 892.

Yes, the RTÉ Radio 1 feed on 892 is from WRN and it is the Medium Wave version of Radio 1. The FM version of Radio 1 is there on the transponder along with the other RTE TV and Radio channels but is called 9611 and is not on the EPG.

Incidentally, although Radio 1 on 892 is in mono, it seems like they are broadcasting only the left or right stereo channel - listen to the Late Date theme or any Beatles song played and you'll hear what I mean.

On a side note I noticed that Radio 5 Live are using Astra to link up their medium wave transmitters ie there is no delay. Is that new??.
