I know Von Its all part of my plan to expose you to Quake 2...
the more you see of it, the more you'll think:
'Hmm ... maybe it isn't so bad after all'.
Eventually, one day, you might even have a game, and find out
that it is actually extremely fun for team games ...

And how much do you see of it ?

From what I can tell, a lot of individuals looked at
the thing for 20 minutes, decided that the gameplay
wasn't the SAME as Quake 1, and made their judgements
based on that.
Or else simply jumped on a Quake 2 bashing bandwagon
because some prominent Quake 1 players aired their
opinions expressing that they didn't like it too much
(mainly, I suspect, over its weakness in 1-on-1 games
and non-teamplay deathmatch).


They perhaps found the 1-on-1 gameplay lacking compared to Quake 1
(because of the better weapons balance in Quake 2) and came
to the conclusion 'The game sucks in 1-on-1, therefore it
sucks FULL STOP'.

As for myself, I wasn't too impressed with Quake 2 the
first time I played it. I was forced to play it over
night at a LAN party, in a team orientated game,
and it was only then that I realised how good it
was in this area. I feel that Quake 2 is a lot more
like Doom.

Yeah - if you like playing 1-on-1 or a normal deathmatch,
stick to Quake 1.
But if you're into team-orientated stuff, give Quake 2 a
chance.

Thats the way I feel about it anyway. If people still
think Quake 2 is sh!t, I don't mind. ID aren't paying me
money to play either game. I would just like to see more
teamplayers playing Quake 2 (or at least giving it an
adequate chance), because I feel that the
criticism it has received is based on its 1-on-1 and
(non-team) deathmatch weaknesses.
