    Hi all,

I've just released "Personal Search Engine".
You can specify any URL and any file type (say zip for ROMs, or avi or
mpg or whatever) and it will search the URL you specify, and the sites
it links to and thje sites they in turn link to and so on....
You specify the search depth and you can also exclude sites/URLs from
    the search.

I posted about it here as it may be of interest to those into the emulation scene....

    Check it out here

    M.

    mmmm batch downloading.

anyway, i likes it and it could be quite useful. but ive found a bug.

wary of spyway i had to do a little checkin of the banner(its just an activex control). however right click and leave the menu open when it display its next page the program will crash.

It's not a batch downloader at all.

It searches for downloadable files on a site and lists them, and then scans the sites the start site links to (if you want) and the sites they in turn link to etc....

Hmmm...not so sure I can fix the crash - it the MS Web Browser Control and I've just embedded it in my code...maybe I can disable the right click menu on it......

The banner is actuall just retrieved from my website and displayed in the control.

Thanks for the heads up on the bug !!

but you can feed the outputted text file into your download manager. makes it a heluva lot easier than clicking ever sinlge link on a page.

    Well, I suppose so....

The big plus (the reason I wrote it) it to scan the linked sites also, and their linked site etc....

Any other suggestions (for the next release - if there's enough interest)

    Searching site::
If the page on the site has any links your program starts looking at the links instead of the real website you want to find stuff in
    a little bit annoying

No it doesn't. It checks the start page first, then the linked pages.

If you only want it to check the start page, set the search depth to 1.

What site were you trying it on, and what file extension were you looking for ?
