Depends on What you mean by as Black magic.
Satanism and black magic are not the same thing.
It was viewed that they were the same and that black magic was the pervsion of christain ritual and the desacration of objects held holy by christains.

Magic it's self is neither black nor white.
It is a force like electiry that can be wield for good or bad intent and it is the intent of the weilder that counts.
IF you use magic to harm it is bad negative and there for black.

Makes me smile when people call themselves white witches.
    Thier just witches :)

I think people call themselves "White" witches so they don't frighten people. But I do see you point. Personally I'd like to see pink witches in the gay pride parades, green witches at environmental rallies and great big bright blue witches running naked across the Wicklow hills :D

If you're going to practice magic then remember you always get what you give. If you practice magic that harms others then it will come back on you and it will hurt. Of course if you use magic to try and help another person without their consent this can also be harmful; as it might prevent them from achieving the outcome they're after.

On the other hand if you cast a spell to help youself get a job you not really capable of doing, then you just harming yourself. So now your magic has harmed somebody and theres loads of negative energy floating around, where's that going to go? My heads spins ...

The ethics and affects of magic are something you really need to sort out from the start and it can be tricky ground.
