Who do think is a really hammy actor,
the kind of muppet that over exaggurates a role to a certain point that you hate the character.

The one that comes to memory for me is that guy in the matrix, hes the the younger of the two brothers, the one that works the computers while neo learns kung fu.

    hammiest acting ever.

    Kenneth Branagh
    Especially in Frankenstein.. dear God

I thought Kenneth Branagh was brilliant.

    Personally I love Hammy acting.
It can really add to a film in a certain sense.
    I love the really OVER-acted OVER-emphasized and OVER-expression.

Case of point being Bram Stoker's Dracula, an already hammy and clichéd peice of work, so do you try using non-clichéd techniques and acting methods? No, you 'Preach to the Converted' and over-do everything. Anthony Hopkins, Cary Elwes, Richard E. Grant, Gary Oldman, all giving it their most over-the-top preformances, and it worked. Same theory with Frankenstein.

Proper hammy acting seems to be in decline, there was a whole sub-set of actors you could rely on to whoop it up shamlessly in the old days, Vincent Price being the prime example (though he could play straight too).

Indeed he was hammy-but bear in mind he was a kid in 'home and away' . I spotted the little fecker trying to sell drugs to renton in 'star wars' as well.

Actually Neo himself in 'dracula' and 'dangerous liasons' takes the biscuit for me.

I agree with anglewhore, hammy acting can be great at times.

Where would Evil Dead be without Bruce Cambell, for instence?

...on the other hand, Hayden Christanson comes to mind. "I am haunted by the kiss.." JEEEESSSSUUUUUSSSS!!!... I have to skip those fu.king scenes everytime I watch AotC.

The ringleader from Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not leatherface, the older brother with the classic line 'let granpa do it!').

Also vote for Matthew McConaghy in the remake of TCM.

Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 2

ALL the good guys from Dawn of the Dead.

    Jurgen Klinsmann.

    lol jurgen klinsman :)

fair enough you can get away with hammy acting in comedys,
but when an actor is given a reasonable serious piece of dialogue and then proceeds to make a mockery of it, you're left with a ridiculous scene.

No, he was talking about Tank, not the "home & away" guy:

Not the hammiest ever, but Olivier made a right pig's ear out of Hamlet's soliloquy in the 1948 film (ironic since it's said the origin of the term "Ham" is an actor so bad he read the abbreviation "Ham." before each line). He really could have done with someone else directing it to give it objectivity. The bizarre thing is that for a long time it became the definitive performance!

Because of the lasting damage it did to people's view of the scene it deserves special mention.

Bill Paxton (the guy from twister). He's not hammy, but the opposite extreme. He's just so goddamn boring and monotonic.

Someone makes a prank call to a New Yorker and "talks" to him using an array of Al Pacino samples:

Another muppet that tops the polls in hammy acting is in CSI.
Its a decent enough show, good storys that leave you guessing etc.
Hes kinda the head of the CSI department on the show, the oldish guy with the glasses.....
    hammy mofo...
