    all right *nixers

I need a little utlity that runs in windows that performs the same task as fromdos and todos do in linux, ie save textfiles without newline and other formatting chars

I *know* i can do it in word, but its a pain in the ass, are there any 3rd party basic text editors out there that can do this, I've been trying a few and i'm sick of
    installing.....
    nope , wont do it
    uninstalling.....
    installing...
    and so on

and before you ask, its a smoothwall box, and i cant find fromdos on it anywhere

Are you talking about a windows text editor that will save files with a particular character for newlines and convert between them? If you are, try out editpad (free) will do that. An option under the convert menu lets you change the way the newlines are handled.
