SquirrelMail odd behaviour

    hey guys,

has anyone ever encountered the following behaviour in the squirrelmail web-mail client (v 1.2.4):

A user logs into their mail account. They go to folder 'n' which they have created to view messages they have saved to it. The 15 most recent emails are displayed and can be viewed/used/abused as usual. Any attempt to navigate backwards through any other emails gets a redirect to the inbox.

    Any suggestions? :-/

Running off RH 7.3 (??) and sendmail 8.11.6

Ok, first off thats a very old version of SM. Secondly it uses IMAP as apposed to sendmail for mail (obviously sendmail for sending). So depending on your IMAP version your milage may vary with SM. I've been running 1.4.0 and 1.2.11 for the last while and I've got no issues with it.

Yo upgrade backup the data dir, do a fresh install, change the perms on the new data dir and copy all the old files back in there.

    cheers flamegrill,

the curious thing is that everything was working up until about 2/3 months ago apparently. So it was working fine

That said, upgrading to more recent versions is generally a good thing. Just for the mean-time I'm looking for the quick and (relatively un)dirty fix

God knows what has happened tbh, sometimes users fiddle with settings etc and stuff happens :), there is not much you can do.

I'd go for 1.2.11 btw as 1.4.0 is less than stable IMO.

Sacrifice a small animal over the mailserver, not forgetting the chanting and the incantations..... wearing of the sandals and hooded garments is a must and very 'in' for the sysadmin for this time of year........ *ahem*

Yeah flamey is right, anything before 1.2.10 is open to a ton of Cross Site Scripting Vulnerablities. Might be an idea to update.
