    FUTURE KINGS OF SPAIN
    plus special guests BOXES

Friday 2nd May 2003 - Temple Bar Music Centre
Doors 7.30pm - Tickets 12.50 (incl. booking fee)

"Accession to the throne of Spain is not something you take for granted, but these three Dubs seem fairly certain of their regal destiny - their passionate, explosive rock should certainly get them noticed in other kingdoms".
Kevin Courtney - The Irish Times

Having jumped into the BBC Radio 1 Single Charts at Number 9 last week, and with airplay under the belts from the likes of Steve Lamacq, Colin Murray and Zane Low (not to mention Phantom FM, 2FM, FM104 and Today FM), FUTURE KINGS OF SPAIN could quite possibly be the sharpest, most galvanised, young hopes to emerge in Ireland for the longest time.

Having spent two years nurturing their art, in the tradition of their heavy-hitting European, American and Antipodean colleagues, Future Kings Of Spain have decided that 2003 will be the year that their luminescent brand of alternative rock, shrieks and howls its way out from under the bushel.

Formed in 2000, signed in 2001 (to Red Flag Records), they played their first ever gig as support to J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. By Autumn 2002 they released the critically acclaimed debut single 'A Place For Everything And Everything In Its Place' and the ball was set in motion for them to take hold. At the end of 2002 the band left for American shores to record their debut album with Ted Niceley - producer of Fugazi, Girls Against Boys - and Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys); everyone who has subsequently heard the 11 tracks has been left with a feeling of huge anticipation and tingling regard.

A whistlestop tour of the UK followed (playing support to Harry and Biffy Clyro), culminating in a blinder of a show at London's Metro...the ideal precursor to their headline show at the Music Centre as part of the Heineken Green Energy Festival. Support comes in the form of BOXES: three (gas) men from Offaly who manage to combine the sheer mass of Shellac with the dexterity and discipline of Nomeansno...their debut album 'big ships in the night, small boats in the morning' is due out in the coming months.

Tickets (12.50 euro) are now available from City Discs, Road Records, Soundcellar, and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
