    GIDDY MOTORS
    plus special guests GREGOR 57

    Saturday 26 April - Whelan’s - 8pm - Tickets 12.50 (incl. booking fee)

"GIDDY MOTORS are every bit as dizzying and driven as their name would have
you believe, your most adventurous attention won't go unrewarded"
    - Playlouder

The brilliant GIDDY MOTORS bring their recent FatCat LP “Make It Pop”(recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio studios in Chicago), to Whelans on Saturday April 26th! It's one of 4 Irish dates as part of a comprehensive 22 date European Tour. The dates in full are Wed 23rd - CORK (Fred Zeppelin’s), THURS 24th - LIMERICK (High Stool), Fri 25th - BELFAST (Giro’s) and Sat 26th - DUBLIN (Whelan’s).

Formed in South London in 1999 by (the wonderfully-named) GAVERICK DE VIS
(guitar/vocals) and MANU ROS (drums/bass), and now augmented by GORDON
ASHDOWN as full-time bass player, Giddy Motors set out to combine the jazz influence of Miles Davis and Christian Vander with Sabbath style US punk, but they deliver it with a fresh slant - coming across like a fusion of (Albini-produced) Jesus Lizard, The Fall and The Stranglers. More intense, energetic and strangely anglicised than most of their would be contemporaries entrenched in the so called new rock and roll, Giddy Motors songs are explosive and prone to suddenly flip back on themselves or fly off at unexpected angles.

The brand new single “Magmanic” is backed with two new recordings - a deftly arranged take on “Eisbar” originally recorded by German speaking Swiss new wave/punk outfit Grauzone, alongside an alternate version of “Bottle Opener”, re-titled “Tight Sauce”. Radically different to the version found on their recent LP, its presented here in a faster, more urgent, ragged and metallic form. The final track here, a brief, bontempi driven rendition of the traditional German folk song “Hanschen Klein” is unmentioned, or hidden away - a fitting, cryptic full stop to the EP, characteristic of Giddy Motors idiosyncratic take on rock.

A visceral, impacting live outfit, GIDDY MOTORS cram funk and punk into their symphonic ramble and still offer the most unusual compelling sonic boom of the moment. Don't miss your chance to catch Giddy Motors in Ireland!

Tickets (for Whelan’s) are on sale from City Discs, Road Records, Soundcellar, and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide - tickets for Limerick, Cork, Belfast available from venues and usual outlets.

'Magmanic' - the brand new single from Giddy Motors' 'Make It Pop' album is out now.
