Awesome England

Ireland was taught a lesson yesterday by England. The display they put on yesterday was one of the best I've ever seen. A great performance. Any time that Ireland looked like making a breakthrough, the English defence just soaked it up, and kept on soaking. Did anyone see an English mistackle yesterday? Great defence.
In attack they were also on top. Their forwards pushed the Irish pack around all day, especially in their own 22. And they're passing was spot on. You couldn't be but impressed with that English side yesterday.

However, I was disappointed to see how they celebrated their win. They won the Grand Slam, and they acted like it wasn't such a big deal. And the carry on before the match started - what was that all about? It spoiled a great display of rugby.

Flawless performance, as throughout the 6 nations, but I can't get too enthusiastic about their style of play. Ruthless, efficient, uncompromising, but lacking that spark of invention and creativity that makes rugby really enjoyable to watch. Like the German football team I suppose?

England are a superb team and theres no shame in any defeat to them. they play the game at awesome pace and although irelands tackling and workrate in the 1st half was excellent bar Dallaglios try, the second half proved that england are in the premier league of nations in rugby union, ireland maybe just scaling the top of division 1.

hey fair deuce to ireland, they went out and gave it a lash.

if rugby is to encourage more youngsters into the game it needs more days like that, and twas worth getting convincingly beaten just to hear that thug johnson getting booed for his disrespectful conduct at the start of the game.

Yup England were just in a completely different class yesterday. Some of the irish players didnt really perform to there best but england still played really. I'm obviously bitterly disappointed that they didn't win but ahwell, we'll keep trying. I think Wilkinson was outstanding yesterday. Scoring drop goals for fun, and on his bad leg no less!! He's just a world class player, has to be the best Fly-half in the world at the mo imo.

I guess anyway like, england is a really big country, with one of the top rugby leagues in thwe world and so they have a massive pool of players to pick from so i guess we can gain solise(dunno how to spell it) from just getting this far an all.

I agree with PH01 that england conduct at the start of the game was fairly unsportsman like, and i taught it was fairly disrespectful, also at the end as u said PH01 i thought it wasn't that great the way they were so laxadaisical(again spelling?) about when they won it. They were just like, oh we just won the 6 nations grand slam, sure this is our 12th time so doesn't really mean anything. On that ground it wouldm have been cool to see ireland win cuz we'd really have appreciate it, but ohwell.

We were outplayed by arguaqbly the best side in the world. The pack just wasn't up to it against the English and they forced alot of mistakes from the Irish lads. Another major and obvious factor was the difference in the quality of the fly halves. Wilkinson is out of this world and Humphreys is good ( when I say good I mean okay as an all round player ). He didn't and can't really get the tackles in. The balls from Stringer just passed him by ( I know that ploy can be used as a dummy sometimes but this was happening consistantly. I think O' Sullivan should definately start playing O' Gara more before he loses him to the $$$ lure of American Football

What a bloody travesty!!!! I can't believe that we are so far behind the english.

At least we can console ourselves with the fact that they won't win the world cup!! The fact that they are so scared of losing will be their downfall, it is the teams that enjoy a great victory rather than avoiding a loss will always end up on top! Just look at the Aussies!!! They are always winning stuff and with the right attitide too!!

As for us irish, i think that we are and will always be a semi final team! This is probably one of the best back rows that we've ever had but unfortunately not matched by the forwards who are effecient but don't have that cutting edge!

Oh yeh, Martin Johnson looks like a damn ugly bulldog, and is the epitomy of the pompous english git that gives the rest of 'em a bad rep!!
