Toll road and waste-management company NTR said today turnover rose to €143.3 million in 2002 - an increase of 63 per cent on the previous year.

The company, which manages the East-Link and West-Link bridges in Dublin, posted an after-tax profit of €12.95, up from € 11.7 million in 2001.

The company said significant development continued at greenstar (formerly Celtic Waste), with turnover increasing 74.5 per cent to €56.7 million (€32.7 in 2001), and at wind electricity company Airtricity, which increased its turnover by 87.5 per cent to €51.2 million (€27.3 million in 2001).

The licence fee at West-Link was €7.6 million. VAT on tolls, introduced in September 2001, raised a further €9.3 million for the Exchequer in 2002.

The East-Link toll scheme contributed €1.5 million to its public sector partners, and municipal rates on both facilities came to €3.5 million. Combined, and before any corporate or payroll taxes, these contributed €22 million to the State.
