Is this not an absurd reference to your own side in a war shooting you, blowing you up.
Why call it Friendly fire? when there is nothing friendly about it.
You may as well call it " oops sorry mate".
How can a mother wife son daughter bear up to the knowledge that there loved one was killed, not by your enemy but by the side they were fighting for.
Could they not say killed in action. and leave it at that. as the guilt that will be felt by fellow colleagues will be unbearable and the shame they will have to live with for the rest of there lives.

Well of the 20 something British soldiers killed up to yesterday (I think soem were KIA today) only one was killed in action (in a riot). All the other had died by friendly fire or accidents. If they were all listed as KIA, we would be under a completely wrong impression of the situation.
