Men's Toilet cubicles, the answer to the Universe!

If you are familiar with Douglas Adams you know the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42! Though we never quite got the question, we at least know Gods final message to his creation was **SPOILER** "Sorry for the inconvenience!"

Anyway you know when you have a dump and you just think! Some of the most revolutionary ideas have probably happened in some jacks somewhere.
Anyway you walk in to a public toilets and there are a few cubicles.. lets say 8. Have you ever noticed how you immediatly home in on one in particular? Assuming they are all empty that is, you just pick one out of the blue and you might walk past 3 or 4 empty ones for no reason and go for the one you picked out. Sometimes you go in and its a disgrace.. ****e everywhere so you go nuts and swear and go find another one because your choice was a bad one.

Anyway just curious why people do that, maybe it holds the key to the ultimate question. If we could understand why we pick a particular ****e bowl then we might understand the universe or maybe at least ourselves a little more....

Or then again maybe im just talking ****e!

I will leave you with a little poem i found in a Bog before!!

"Some come here to sit and think
    Some come here to wonder
I come here to **** and stink
    And fart like bloody thunder!"

Ive just been thinking about that whilst reading your post and we do the same thing when we get on say an empty bus..Ive just realised that i always always look out for soewhere close to the back on the right hand side of the bus as you walk down towards the seats.

Same with going to the loo i tend to go for the least obvious out fo the way choice.

    have no idea why though

    The best thing I saw in a public toilet was above a urinal;
"What are you looking up here for, the problem is in your hands"
But good point, I do that myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,722 ✭✭✭Thorbar

I read something like that once, Why are you looking up here? Too ashamed to even look at it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,322 ✭✭✭Repli

You can look at it logically.. You walk past the first 1 or 2 because you presume they're the most used and hence the dirtiest

I'm sure there's some logical reason for sitting at the back of an empty bus too..

Best toilet graffiti is in the toilets in Hogans on George's st.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭woolymammoth

i usually check to see if they're all empty, then go for one on the end. or if some are occupied, i pick the one furthest away from anyone else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

I tend to go for the last one too, but not always, only about half the time.

Oh and Repli... :D If your thinking logically then would it not be logical for everyone to think the first 2 are in bits and so also avoid them leaving the remaining 6 the most used and therefore logically the first 2 are the cleanest?

And as for the bus.. wel possibly its something to do with your brain which side you sit on. Maybe if you are right handed you tend to go for the right and left handed the left... ?!..?

im currently on the 2nd book at the moment of douglas adams, the restaurant at the end of the galaxy.

I hear the last one is pretty much crap as he gave up the drugs etc and they just werent as far fetched as the first 4 :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,389 ✭✭✭✭Saruman

Thats true, i just re-read the first 4 recently hence the ref and also my qoute on my sig has changed.

Book 5 is good but its so completely different its almost not HHGTTG at all. My fave was always 4 (so long and thanks for all the fish!).

    Hi Saraman,
You thread is indeed profound no point in saying anymore as to qoute someone famous
Below is a qoute from a moderator whows name shall remain unspoken....

I have been keeping an eye on both you and saruman today for the simple reason that you were both flaming each other in a thread this morning/last night.

Horndog try and stick to the topic please. I know we are talking about Toilets and the meaning of life but that does not mean we are talking about ****e.

And i told you not to post that, if you want to debate your apparent victimisation then debate it and point to the charter and show you have not been breaking it if you can. Otherwise just obey the rules! You dragged me down to your level the other day and im not doing that again. Stop flaming!

    What's Flaming?

Oh the toilet thing too... I generally go for one in the middle, unless one seems larger than the others, then I go for that. I tend to avoid closed doors and go for open ones. I never use them if they have any paper on the ground (???). Why I do any of these things I have no idea.

I have a mate who lays down a cushion of bog-roll in any toilet other than his own. And another mate who hovers rather than sit. Personally i think they're freaks...

    leave Horn Dog 1 alone...

    I mean
    1. Great name
    2. If you've followed his posts, he dares to be different
    3. It's entertaining
    4. His wild craziness and confused anger against EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE is probably due to some chemical imbalance, and therefore needs our help not our ire.

I'm serious. And really, it's nice to have someone other than pinko-liberal techno-geeks to argue with... I'm sick of hanging out with like minded people.

personally I think they'll be the people with the least chance of getting thyphus or diptheria.....or even worse - a bad dose of the gout....

if i walk in to a toilet and their is an open door ill go for one with a closed door, always to the right and usually the darkest of the lot as i think people usually go for the one with the open door, or the biggest one or the brighest one..therefore the one i choose should be the least used one....i also put a cushion of paper down and i dont think its a crazy thing to do, all though hovering while trying to crap is something i think is going a bit too far and also must be quite difficult to pull off.....

I'm sure there's some logical reason for sitting at the back of an empty bus too..

I'm anti-social. I notice when people(esp old people) get on a bus, and the bus is half full, they sit next to people near the front of the bus. That's why I go towards the back, not too far towards the back though, need to keep somewhat away from the scumbags... As for the right hand side of the bus - that's the side nearest the road when the bus is parked, and also because of the state of irish roads, the bus tends to lean slightly in this direction so you tend to "fall" into the seat on the right hand side.

    The one with:

) A plentiful supply of loo roll, still on the roll,
) No previous deposits (fcking muppets leaving it all there  )
    ) Dry, clean floor,
) Unlocked doors (fcking muppets taking the p!ss),

Once ended up doing my business in a 5th floor loo - all the rest were in bits. (I mean really really bad, to the point that I would've thrown up but for the fact that I'd be facing a two foot long turd) BLEURGH!

Actually, maybe they were so clean on 5th floor 'cos they were the ladies? I had never seen those big blue boxes in the blokes' before. AAGH! Why the hell did they put the mens' straight ahead and ladies to the left on floors 1-4 and reverse them on the 5th floor???

A funny one was the "Marketing degree, feel free to take one -->" pointing to the loo roll. And I thought my course was bad!

    It is what it's.
