Nokia have released the Video Recorder app as a download on their site, this is the same app as on the 3650.

It records audio, allows you to pause recording and you can now also send over Bluetooth and IR from the app. Compared to the T-Mobile Germany version that was doing the rounds on the web this records with no banner, records 10 second clips (rather than a max file size) and no restriction to send by email only from the app. (it's also in English!) :) it is a larger install though at about 420KB.

    You can get it here:

Creates .3gp files that can be played back with the Nokia Media Player on the PC:

Just downloaded this ... and have got to say, this is a must download for anyone with a 7650.

It will allow you to record 10 seconds of video with sound with the camera on your phone, and then you can send the video file via multimedia to another 7650 or 3650 or via email, infrared or bluetooth to a PC where you can play it back using the software available in the second link....excellent.

    V10 ;)

Its at times like this that i wish i wasnt a ready to go customer. As all the good apps have to be sent to your phone via email, which at the moment we're still unable to download email directly from the phone, but access it through wap itself which doesnt let you view any attachments.

how about calling 1850 287 000 and get HSCSD (High Speed Dial-Up) set-up for your account and configure it to use as a dial-up connection for your (pop) e-mail account - while you on to the asking them about GPRS ISP Access for ReadyToGo (they may have opened it up at this stage - or the more people who ask the better!)

or if you just want to get the app on the phone you could set-up your dial-up ISP account (or a 'free' dial-up ISP e.g. eircom.net) on the phone to connect to get that attachment over email

otherwise if you know anyone with a laptop or PC (with IR or Bluetooth) you could ask them a favour, next time you meet them to have it on the machine to transfer to your phone - if you are handy to Dublin city centre I'll transfer it over to you from the PDA, takes about 15 seconds

Be warned that installing this app will result in the T-Mobile version being overwritten (although any files will remain, even if you can’t see/access them).

Of course, one other disadvantage is the 3gpp format, unlike the T-Mobile video app which recorded mp4 clips, which is proprietary, so sending them by email to friends (who are unlikely to have the Nokia multimedia viewer) is pointless.

I’ve not located a 3gpp converter as yet (if anyone do please post a URL) and would consider this a fairly important issue before this app, for all the bells and whistles, becomes practical.

trap4's blog MMSMemo has an entry commenting on the 3gp format being a 3GPP standard for video used in mobile terminals

when i sent .mp4 clips to people via email from the T-Mobile app i got questions from them asking how to open it anyway (apart from one who was had QuickTime 6 installed) - so it was still a bit of hassle for them to open the .m4 version - but here's hoping 3gp codecs are available soon for Windows Media Player and Real Player
