I got a quote for my (just purchased) 1993 1.4 VW Golf for €4693.00 thirp party only off Pat Britton Insurance Brokers in Donegal. I have to say, it's not bad when you consider the following:

I'm 21, just got my 2nd Prov and I have practically no 'ahem' official driving record to speak of! I was insured before for 3 months on a 1.3 Civic but that was only because I was an employee of the company at the time! What do all you guys think? I have to say, I was expecting a quote of at least €6000.00 considering those goons at QD outdid themselves yet again with a ridiculous quote of €8145.35!!!!!!

I can just about afford this insurance and if it means I can pass my test and get a 1year NCB I'll be reasonably happy. I to anyone who is having serious trouble getting a quote to try Brittons as they seem to specialise in young drivers without taking the piss...ala Quinn Direct, 123.ie etc

Their no is (074) 9721394 or you can get a quote online @ http://www.brittoninsurance.com/

Well it's indicative of the fact that we are becoming accustomed to ridiculously high premiums, that you find this a good quote. 'Cos IMO it's not, whatever way you look at it, nearly €5000 for cover in a small car, without theft cover !!, ridiculous.

This post maybe better off in the MIJAG board by the way ?

Good luck with the car though.

Are you taking the mick. It's an horendous quote. Even if it was fully comp it's rediculous. It's only a 1.4 litre engine. It's hard to believe that anyone could think that was a good quote. Have you tried Hibernian? They are quoting now for under 25's.

i'm 21 and have 2 yrs named driving without claims, and now 5 months under my own policy (€4609) tpft for 1.4 focus

I rang Hibernian and they will only quote under 25s on a Prov with a 4 years NCB! In other words... Not me!

Just got a quote off Mike Murphy Insurances for €4700 Third Party Fire & Theft! Methinks I'll be going for that instead!

    :)

Funny how it is when you mention that you've got another quote they always put you on hold for a couple of minutes and then somehow manage to beat it by a few €€€!!!
