Well if you know someone's screensize you can haxor their gibson.

Might have something to do with the proposed front page redesign and to see how much space the average boarder has to play with.

1600x1200... up from 1280x1024. its great what some new drivers will do :D

1200x1024 will only run at 60hz on my monitor and everything is too bloody small.

i prefer 1024x768. a nice crisp 85hz and all the icons are just the right size.

    1024x 768 on 32-bit

but slightly cautious as to you reasons for wanting to know.....;)

1024x768 Easy on the eyes and not headache inducing like some higher resolutions.

Ditto. Plus as Logie says, higher resolutions/lower refresh rate tends to give me headaches.

You people need to buy some decent monitors. 1024*768 is a bit crappy in this day and age. I use 1600*1200 on a iiyamma Vision master pro 450.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Whats that supposed to mean? Have our arms gotten longer or something?

1920x1200 Widescreen HD. Boards looks rather comical and wasteful (space usage).

And yes, 1024x768 is pretty rubbish.

I cant believe some of you idiots are being elitist about screen resolutions in 'this day and age'. Thats a load of bollox. If youve got a smaller monitor you need to use a lower resolution, regardless of the super mega processing power of you leet ultra box. Otherwise you just cant see anything. Im on 1024 x 768 at home because ive got a 17" screen. If I had a larger screen id use a higher resolution. In college my resolution is 1280 x 1024, but since the screen is 19" (i think) it looks exactly the same.

altho I might drop it down to 1024x768. *hmmm*

wish my moniter could support more than 60Hz @ 1280x1024.

The vast majority of them use 1024x768. Some of the older celeron 450's use 800x600.

    1024 X 768 - 85Mhz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 939 ✭✭✭Zyox

    On my own setup I run 1280x1024 at 85hz on a 19inch
In college though I'm forced to run a nasty 1024x768 at 75hz i think and on really bad 17inch monitors too that are cleaned with mucky cloths and have fingerprints dotted and smudged all over them. grrrr.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 178 ✭✭Dalamar

    1024x768 for windows / X,
    1280x1024 for games.

I can do 1600x1200, but i find it's annoying for any (extended)length of time.

    1280*1024 on my 19" Gericom

but the lead on it needs replacing so have been using a 14" with 1024*768 and its a killer, just not enough space on my desktop, ahhh should have some money soon to fix it. Been ages now.

    Gid.

    1600x1200 @120hz. Yum :)

Investing in a really good monitor is the best use of money possible for anyone who uses computers a lot.

(Oh, since everyone else seems to be listing the resolutions they use on their mobile phones and toasters as well as their desktop PC, I use 1024x768 on my laptop and 640x480 on my PDA.)
