Tired of late, cancelled or non-existent trains?

Ever wanted to take a train from Sligo to Galway to Limerick to Cork without having to go all the way back to Dublin or some other far-flung station hours and many miles away in just to change trains? It is possible, but CIE/IE don’t want you to find out…

Sick of 19th century rail services/timetables in the 21st century? It’s never going to change as CIE/IE much advertised new Inter-City carriages were ordered just to replace the ‘clapped-out’ bunch they currently have with no scope/plans for creating extra or late night services. New trains, same worthless timetable.

Did you know that every year Irish Rail run hundreds of passenger trains empty across Ireland just to get them back to their starting points - wasting thousands of gallons of diesel fuel while ignoring thousands of potential customers who might want to use these late trains?

Did you know that CIE chairman John Lynch did not apply for EU rail freight grants nor tax breaks and then complained that moving goods by train in Ireland was losing money!!! Ireland has the highest percentage of heavy lorries on our roads of any nation in the EU and what’s Irish Rail’s answer to this? - they buy more lorries to market and increase their 1,000,000 tons of road freight. And they do all this while promoting the social, economic and environmental benefits of transporting goods by rail on their own website. Incredible, bizarre, surreal - but 100% true.

Did you know that Dublin already has the basis of a Metro and an airport rail service that can be up and running within 18-26 months and won’t cost billions to the taxpayer? Again, CIE/IE don’t want you to find out…

Fed up with CIE/IE spin, excuses and wasteful PR and pointless/insulting TV adverts?

Want to reclaim the railway network that you own through your taxes?

I'll leave this thread open if people wish to actually discuss the train system problems.
