announcement that the 3650 was shipping globally was on 26th + time to get to / be stocked by vendors

so perhaps some stage this week, two suggestions would be:
    www.expansys.com (not the import model)
    www.mphone.co.uk

(beware the Chinese models on eBay, there are many doing the rounds - some flashed with english some not!)

I was talking to O2 this morning and they told me that they had not yet approved the handset. They anticipated that it would be april before they approved it.
I don't know what the line is from Vodafone.

In other news mine is working quite well.

I hear it is very light ?

yeah it seems a lot lighter than the 6310i

not quite as tall but wider and deeper than the 6310i

    fits in one's pocket grand.

Mine came with a 16Mb memory card

Camera quality is very good, all considered things, and video is ok, motion is damped so pictures don't blur too easily.

    circular dial makes texting difficult

    loudspeaker function works very well

bluetooth works, is connected to my PC
    and have transferred images .

    Nothing else springs to mind.

I asked in a Vodafone store in Limerick last week and the salesman told me it would be "a few months" at least before it would be released as the Nokia 7650 "had just been released".

To be honest, he wasn't terribly convincing.....

The Vodafone Live! (s/w 2.50) variant is only being tested now. So this one definitely won't be out for at least a month.

i've been offered a brand new 3650 in exchange for my 7650.

All i know about the 3650 is its capable of capturing video whereas the 7650 aint. Is it worth trading my 7650 for?

rrp price of 3650 if you have it, so i can see where i stand.

I'm afraid you're wrong there. There is a video capture program for the 7650 developed by Hantro, the same people who provide the video software for the 3650. I just had a quick look, but I couldn't fond the link for the 7650's video software on the German T-Mobile site, but I've uploaded the file & you can get it here. There's also video capture software with sound available on the net, but it's not freeware.

As for trading it in for a 3650? All I can say is that I definately wouldn't part with my 7650 for anything . As far as I'm concerned, it's the best phone on the market, it does everything! :) Moreover, the 3650 isn't great. Sure, it has the advantage of taking MMC's but those "ergonomically designed" keys are murder on your fingers when used for any length of time. The lens on the 3650 is also more susceptible to damage than that of the 7650.

thing is without an mmc how ya going to watch the office on your phone on the train on the way to work ? ;-)

I would highly reccommend the swap simply because the 3650 is second generation whereas the 7650 was the first nokia camera phone.

As regards the video you can record 15 secs with the onboard software. Although the available software/freeware will balloon as more phones become available with symbian.

It also fully supports bluetooth 1.1 which defines standards for streaming audio
    [ headsets etc.]

And with 128 MB storage in MMC wow.

If you text a lot then maybe not although since this phone is aimed at the "youf" market, one would presume that nokia, who are quite smart, have done adequate testing to ensure that texting is at least as quick if not quicker once you get used to it .

The one downside is that in a year everyone will have this phone,[I reckon]

    Ciao

It would have been very nice if nokia had made a 7655 - basically a phone with the 7650s design but the 3650s memory. I wouldnt even consider swapping my 7650 for a 3650, theyre just way way too ugly :)

There was a discussion on the differences back in this Nokia 3650 thread if that's any help

The phones shipped almost 9 months appart so you get a more capable / advanced piece of hardware. It's the shape and physical UI of the 3650 that has been the biggest hurdle for people to deal with so if you can get over the form factor I don't see why not? (just don't go for the purple cover!)

On the Bluetooth front both support 1.1, but as happydude13 pointed out the 3650 is more complete, It supports two additional profiles: HandsFree and Generic Object Exchange.
