There are a few how bout these:

    Machine Gun - Jimi Hendrix
For the Love of God - Steve Vai
    Eruption - Van Halen

Don't worry, I'm not gonna mention Yngwie Malmsteen next...

My Favourite would have to be Machine Gun though....what use is a bunch of 16th notes played a rediculous speed when ya ain't got feelin??

    Dream Theater - Fatal Tragedy.

This one hammers the shít outta Vai.

"crossing the thin line between christian and pagan"

I hate "for the love of god" :)

There are some even crazier solos out there. Mostly Jazz.
Check out some Stanley Jordan, and remember, when you *think* you hear two guitars, its only one.

I can play pretty fast solos too when I'm in the mood.

I've started playing a few solos myself...

But I usually prefer the slower kind of ones.

    Anathema - Sleepless
    Great song, great solo.

That one hammers seven shades of poo out of any solo..... except for some other dream theatre ones!! :D

Petrucci = guitar god type fellow

Any Solo by Frank Zappa is quiet amazing. He has 4 albums of just solos, and has a new one coming out later this year.

Nightwish - Crimson Tide/Deep Blue Sea

An incredibly nice solo. It's not fast or anything. Just nice. It took me ages to learn it because there were such crap tabs for it. But I eventually got it, and decided to make my own tab which is about 95% correct. It's currently on http://www.mysongbook.com

    Anathema - Sleepless

I concur, solo's dont all need to be fast, but this is a classic if u ask me... very nice!

    Megadeth Hangar 18
Compleatly jumps to a different key right in the missle of it.

    Crazy train Randy Rhodes
The first really constructive use of hammer ons in a solo in my opinion

What about Sworn To The Black?! All of Morbid Angel's solo's kick ass, I can't think of one bad solo played by Azagthoth.

Hey has anyone listened to jimmy pages solo in "heartbreaker" (ledzep II) ? Flawless..........

He does a better version of this on the bbc sessions album....

Also, the 1973 tour version of Stairway to Heaven contains a 4 minute solo that is the greatest i've ever heard....

    Hey Stanley_kubrick,

That's what I'm talkin about! That dvd is top notch, the solo's are unbeatable....

A new DVD is set to be released in 5.1 surround with more live footage of some concerts in 1972 and 73..........this is to coincide with the new 3 cd release of live stuff....

This should be arriving in may sometime according to
    www.led-zeppelin.com

    I can't wait.

Joe Satriani has some great ones

That DVD + Live double album will surely set you back a fortune. I can't imagine the DVD selling for less that 35 dollars in America, so unless you are importing, thats gonna be about 50 euro or so here. Ripoff, and the double album will be in the range of 30 euro!

    80 euro :/

Still, I would like to have it :>

    Bah humbug@80 euro

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22 ZoSoPage

You can pre-order the stuff, the dvd and the 3 disc cd on Amazon for 21 dollars each which is surprisingly sweet....Just add 21% to 42 bucks and you've got a good deal.

However I can't imagine Virgin, Hmv or any other shop like that selling either for less than 30 or 40 quid each...Some box-sets are 200 quid on their own!

Only time will tell i guess.

Will our stupid inflated country have to get this zep dvd imported and pay more more more?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

If it even comes out in europe, but i'm sure you gonna pay loads, unless you get it from the net, and have a multi region dvd player.
