Harddrive running out of space, or has it?

Has anyone else had this problem ....

Everytime my computer goes below 1.5gigs free the 'you've run out of HD space' message comes up! Note 1.5gigs and not 1.5megs or whatever!

I don't have harddrive partitions or anything so why is 'my computer/ windowsexplorer etc' saying one thing when the CPU itself thinks otherwise?

    Thanks!

problem could be that there's some programs reserving space on your harddrive and telling the OS thats its used space

Have you run scandisk lately? The free space on the drive might be reported incorrectly, can happen with win98 after a crash, scandisk sorts it.
