For anyone interested, I see that SkyOne are going to show "The Michael Jackson Interview: The Footage You Were Never Meant to See" on Monday night at 9pm.

Will it be as mad as the original one shown by ITV/TV3 I wonder!

The original (for those who didn't see it) is repeated on Thursday on TV3.

In this one appearantly the interviewer admits he admires Jackos realtionship with his children.

well no, its the one where bashir says anything he can to get jackson to talk about the things that he wouldnt normally talk about.

I cant wait to see the reaction to this programme, which i assume will just show people what Directors and Editors do :)

wh00t it seems Dustaz is wrong! (I hope)
I just saw on the ad the interviewer saying something that his realtionship is so good 'its makes him want to weep'

Thats only to encourage Michael to talk.

Kinda like the way when someone in school has lots of money and you tell them that you're their friend and then they give you some...

Feck it, I think I'll watch this after reading Dustaz' comment - seeing two fairly different cuts of the (mostly) same material will be pretty interesting. It just means I'll have to watch the original show on Wednesday too.

Looks fantastic so far - definitely more of the truth is being revealed here from what I can see...

Strikes me as damage limitation propoganda so far, but I don't this or indeed Bashir's programme are going to change anyone's mind. People made their minds up about Wacko Jacko a long time ago and what ever side of the fence you're on, something like this is unlikely to convince you that you're wrong.

Was it the cute library music or the sycophantic friendly interviews or complete lack of objectivity that gave you that impression?

That programme was more biased than Bashir's. Sadly, the americans probably wont see that.

Didn't see the original, thanks for the info Tmb.

It wasn't unbiased thought was it! Apparently Jackson had no input into the editing - of course he didn't -his editors did!

Good to see his side of things, and it'll be very interesting to see how all the "evidence" is edited in court too!

In a word it was 'pants'. Worst piece of sentimental pap ever on TV and what was with the music, I was in tears listening to it, tears of pain !

Hm, I don't know what gave me the impression that this one was more truthful than Bashir's...

Perhaps it was the mention of vitiligo? The common disease that effects many millions of people (including our very own Graham Norton, see his hair and sometimes his forehead? Vitiligo!)

Or the fire, which DID require some definite reconstructive surgery...?

Why wouldn't Bashir mention these things? Oh... I don't know - to enhance what seems to be a floundering career? Let's face it - he hadn't landed a really big interview since Diana, this really put him on the map.

However, having said that, this programme wasn't unbiased! Nor was Bashir's - now you have two sides of a story, it's up to you if you want to ignore one half.

They didn't mention when jacko broke his nose.
Or LaToya, she admits to loads of operations, and looks exactly like him!

God I'm so sick of this Pro/Anti Jackson debate. If anything all this coverage proves to me about MJ is that he is a shrewd manipulator of the media and nobody has seemed to have copped it.

I think this whole 'Bashir betrayed me' scenario was a pre-mediated stunt cooked up by Jacksons camp to revive his sagging career and if anything Jackson-doc-part-2's amazingly fast production only reconfirmed my theory.

Also notice how both documentaries conviently 'forgot' to mention that Jackson is slowly going bankrupt, that has last album flopped commercially and that his media profile was dropping fast. All this was left out in order to exhonorate him from any accusations that these programmes were made purely for media exposure and not (as he puts it) 'to get the truth out'.

That all of course has all changed now due to this mass debate .... and now people are only worried about whether he's going to record a cover of 'I'm forever blowing bub.bles' rather than 'is this conieving little **** manipulating' me?

And yes, they're both great songs!

    //

    BTW , why the hell does bubb.les = a ******* word?

Couldnt agree more with that. Your standard 1 hour documentary takes about 2 or 3 months to come from conception to transmission and thats a fairly quick turnaround.

It can of course be done quicker, but remember this was a two hour doc with a fair amount of research to be done and there was only one researcher on it.
