Once again i post, ah, you'd think i never leave! Well im happy now, im getting 4 new albums, including the music! I feel happy to be happy leaving horrible musical history behind! Im got my feet firmly on the ground and walking to were i want to be going!
So now that i've chucked my old c.d collection minus the good stuff which is respectable, im in search of a new c.d collection, and i have bands in my head, a good few actually, i need your recommendations!! So oh wise ones give me your thoughts!

HMV are doing two S.O.D albums for 13:99euro. highly recomended

    EVERYTHING by AC/DC
I almost agree with you, but with two exceptions, both Brian Johnson albums: Blow Up Your Video, and For Those About To Rock. Four highly excellent albums, all of which are fantabulously consistent, are Back In Black, Highway To Hell, Let There Be Rock and The Razors Edge.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,478 ✭✭✭GoneShootin

    Axe

I would almost agree with you on the NOT GOOD albums

BLOW UP YOUR VIDEO was the combination of bad music, bad producing, and bad commercialism. Tis crap in other words. Heetseeker played LIVE by Chrise Slade is awsome tho !

I cannot agree with FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK however. It is a great album and definately worth the purchase to be included in any rock collection.

    /edit
also, FLY ON THE WALL is not up to much either. If you need an example in your collection of rubbishy AC/DC that you can only listen to once every 6 or so months, tis FLY and BLOW...

    Black Flag
    Minor Threat
    Fugazi
Misfits (old, not the new WWF Misfits)
    Ween
    Dead Kennedys
    Minutemen

Just some bands I like. :D

    Especially Bonfire(5 cd collection)

For metal, you can't go wrong with Iron Maiden.
Powerslave, Number Of The Beast, Piece of Mind, and Brave New World are all great. And yes, Rock In Rio is fantastic.

    Don't forget Thin Lizzy!

    And I second your agreement.

    Staying OT though:

    Lemonheads - Car, Button, Cloth
Stone Temple Pilots - Core and Purple
    Whipping Boy - Heartworm
    Beck - Mutations

Not necessarily heavy metal but it's all solid stuff.

Where did it state that only extreme-type metal albums were to be recommended? The original poster stated one of the albums he's getting is by The Music, hardly death metal..

C'mon and tell me how nu-metal is the future then

Oh, and stick Nirvana's In Utero on your list. I certainly have no apologies.

Joy Division - Closer & Unknown Pleasures, you really need both because they are just so damn good.

The name for one. The presence of guitars, drums and a bass for another. Thats about it.

Pearl Jam and are Nirvana are metal at all, so how they can be pissy metal is beyond me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,967 ✭✭✭Dun

Exactly, neither Pearl Jam nor Nirvana are metal. Metal was not specified.
