which client are you trying to get to work (AOL/ICQ/MSN)?

i've have MSN running grand with the default port 1836 on the 7650, connecting through O2 GPRS ISP acces points: internet (for post-pay) and pp.internet (for pre-pay)

hi - just want to check two things first:

    which operator you are with:
are you on O2 prepay / bill pay or Voda bill pay?

and that you have an isp/internet GPRS connection set-up (and working)
when you try and connect with IM+ it pops up a list of connections to choose from titled: Select Access Point - what are they?

then need to make sure you can connect successfully to a WEB (full internet) GPRS connection, not just WAP / Vodafone Live! e.g. if you have been able to check your email with the Built-In Messaging Mailboxes over GPRS (which one did you use for that)

hi - you'll need to use their (ISP) Internet Access point for IM+ to work, Vodafone Live! is only a WAP access point so connecting through that won't work I'm afraid.

give Vodafone Data Support a call on 1850 287 0000 and ask them to set the ISP GPRS access point isp.vodafone.ie for your account, this Access Point allows you to connect to the full Internet i.e. for web browsing, pop/imap email, and more importantly in this case for Instant Messaging :)

one thing about Vodafone GPRS is it's expensive (compared to O2), so if you are going to make use if it a lot (i.e. more than 1MB a month) then you shuold look at subscrbing to their GPRS1 package as the cost per KB is less than if you stay on their Pay as You Use. Vodafone's GPRS details here...

they should be able to talk you through setting up the Access Point, but if you are having any hassle post back and some of us can list out the settings

hi - what connections have you got set-up on your phone?

can you connect to the Internet (not WAP) access point successfully - using the connection that is configured with the pp.internet access point does the G symbol flash then go constant with a white box around it?

can you use the connection configured with the pp.internet access point successfully with any other applications (pop/imap email, web browser)?

or is it just IM+ that isn't working - are there any error messages?

hi - if you give o2 internet + wap support a call on 1740 they will need to set it up for you

they should be able to talk you through setting it up (or they may be able to send the configurations to you over SMS) - if you have any trouble with the settings some of us can list them out here

this let's you access the Internet so you can use other WEB applications like e-mail (POP/IMAP) and instant messaging - not just WAP pages through the WAP browser.
