Carrying on from the thread entitled "Unprovoked attack"someone requested the stats on a country where Cannabis usage is legal versus one where its outlawed.

    This link: http://www.angelfire.com/rnb/y/holland.htm

shows a nice chart half way down the page in green where there is a comparison between The US,The UK and Holland and seems to show that Cannabis usage is lower due to its less appealing Decriminalised presence, and seems to be pointing out that serious crime is lower due to this aswell.I havent read through the entire site but I hope it helps with some statistics.

Just going by the charts, I'd say compelling evidence for reform. But I would say that, being a low life stoner and all. I think what most countries fear most is that legalisation will bring about people coming out of the woodwork smoking all over the place. As it is one in three people I know smoke dope as do one in three of the people that they know and so on etc, so as theres so much of it going on why not just leagalise the damn shít and get on with spending money on really sorting out what the countries issues are.

There is two flaws with the chart

Firstly, if you decriminalise drug posession, you stop arresting people, so yes of course there will be less incarcerations.

Secondly - there is no causal link between the murder rate and cannabis usage. The low murder rate could as easily be attributed to the top quality dutch red light districts - to take a facile example. More red lights = less muders.

Just my 2C, though in essence I do belive in legalisation, oh, and taxation that will go with it!
