    How's about replacing the Java Applet with CGI:IRC?

    Purely a selfish suggestion, for us behind firewalls :)

    Obviously you'd limit access to quakenet only. I think though it may be a bit heavy on the server, but sure it's up to you. :)

    Its been discussed and rejected before. Too hard on the server and requires some icky stuff to be installed/used on the server too iirc. Anyway, regi hates it and has vowed against it forever afaik.

    Basically, there's no technical problem with use running cgi:irc - however, it doesn't do the irc bit very well. I'd prefer to keep the irc parts of boards on quakenet, but quakenet does not like cgi:irc, and you'll probably get g:lined if you use cgi:irc on quakenet. So that's it in a nutshell.
