getting Sky Digital should be no problem. ring up the free phone number and organise an installation date or you could go to an independant dealer. it wiil cost you £50 for installation and the dish and box are free provided you take up some sort of subscription. "paddies get lost"?????

I think he means the "Excludes ROI" bit on the UK "Bob" adverts...

SkyDigital is however available in ROI. All the packs are the same as UK, but cost £2 more expensive. You can recieve all channels with the exception of BBC CHOICE, BBC NEWS 24, BBC KNOWLEDGE, BBC RADIO 5 LIVE, TalkSport, Channel 4 and Channel 5. To recieve BBC ONE and BBC TWO, you need the Sky Family Pack. The details of the packages are on http://icdg.tvfromireland.com or www.sky.com. Unfortunately, ITV and the four Irish channels are also not available, there is however a "best of" RTE channel called Tara.

Installation costs £50 for a residential premises and includes free a Sky Minidish and Digibox. In Dublin, Dixons Group or PowerCity are your best bets for purchasing.

I would like to think that we are a good bet for purchasing too. www.irelands-satellite.ie
If you are in the ifsc you need to make sure you have a south facing balcony with a clear view.

See http://www1.sky.com/skydigital/Info.html - the UK prices have increased, though the Irish prices are still as listed on icdg afaik. Ireland got a better deal than the UK before the increases given the exchange rate, and gets and even better one now. The current UK prices are:

    Family Pack: £16 (=IR£20.83) ROI IR£16
    Value Pack: £10 (=IR£13.02) ROI £9
    Lifestyle/Kids&Music/Knowledge/Popular Mix: £13 (=IR£16.92) ROI IR£13

    Sky Sports/Movie World £30 (=IR£39.05) ROI IR£30
    Sky World £36 (=IR£46.86) ROI IR£36

    Installation £40 (=IR£52.06) IR£50

So I forsee a price rise soon! ROI customers have a much better deal than UK ones at the moment. It suits me, though, that the prices are lower here, as guess what I've just had installed?!

Besides the fact that the installer was out of boxes and we had to wait a week and a half for the installation, everything went smoothly. He even re-used the old Chorus wire that was left running down the house!

I hope the 'missing' channels come on-stream soon. I don't even mind paying the same as the UK if we get all their features! I still think we are getting a very good deal at present, though.

Of course, how could I forget! Of course support your local Irish installers too - lets not have the UK (yes, I know PowerCity is Irish) chains get all the business...

Thanks Richard for letting me know about the updated prices - so they are the same North and South now? Except our pound is cheaper...

I'll update ICDG with the info (and I also have to get round to changing the radio station channel nos too).

"Thanks Richard for letting me know about the updated prices - so they are the same North and South now?"

Except I think the Value Pack is cheaper IR£ vs UK£ assuming the Irish price hasn't risen.

This could be due to the fact that BBC ONE and TWO aren't included in the Value Pack - though strictly speaking they are FTV in the UK so this shouldn't matter but you know what I mean.
