Hmmm... I don't seem to have it completely yet. My digibox froze when I tried to change channels around 8.30pm. I unplugged it and now I've got that 0 option in the TV Guide, 3 days listings but nothing else. I guess it's a matter of time.

Nice to have Euronews 24 hours though.

    From JC:
    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
    Hey, folks -

New EPG and planner has arrived.

Pace* boxes got this sometime this evening. Try plugging the box out and plugging it back in after 30 or so seconds. It should switch to the new software then. Otherwise, you may not have it yet and a forced software update would bring it in, but it may be wiser not to do this and just let it transfer over by itself.

The new OS version is 1.2.4l, the software version is
2.7bb.5* (which isn't as much of an increase in numbers as I expected.) There is a different look and feel to the EPG; lots of buttons do new functions, the TV Guide is accessed in a different way.

On the day that Sky News changed its signature tune (the hour after the election was announced - but no logo change, I had been hoping for that as well), EuroNews and GameNetwork were added and the Flextech/BBC channels got a facelift (albeit less transparent DOGs than previously), it's been quite a busy day.
    </font>

    From irishblimp:
    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">
I have just done a software upgrade and still have OS version 1.2S3Bu and EPG Version 2.7a2*

How come U got it and I didn't?. I've got meself a Pace system too albeit it's the older Black 2500 version (Dunno if the silver version is better internally). Has everyone else got it?

I figured it out, all you do is highlight the programme that you want to watch/record and press select, it then stores this in the planner and changes channel when the programme starts.

    Hi Tony,

Did you do a forced download to get the new planner or should we all have it by now ???

Also, if the digibox is in standby mode will it turn itself on automatically if you have selected a channel on the planner ???

Sounds good! No more missing shows when away...

Didn't see any difference last night. Maybe I can leave work early and get home to check!!

HI Guys, I simply unplugged and re plugged to get the new epg although I'm sure a forced download will do the trick although remember REMOVE YOUR VIEWING CARD before doing this. I just testing now to see if it will switch on from standby. I'll let you know.

I dunno why some people can get it but others cannot, including myself? Another thing..Tony, why take out the viewing card? I would like 2 C the new Planner

I just tried to upgrade as well (thanks again to irishblimp for the assist in my previous post) but no luck here either (Black Grundig - Model 2.20, OS Version: 1.2S3Bu, EPG Version: 2.7a.2*)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

From what I can gather only older versions of Pace are getting new EPG. Then, gradually, all manufacturers and models will be included. Damn! Have to wait til tomorrow, I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

i got a black Grundig too am a bit annoyed that i don't have it while some people i know do. it would come in very handy for this Saturday as there is some things i want recorded and no one will be home to change the channel frown.gif

Hi, Because it can sometimes screw up the card. Found this out the hard way.

Has there been any official word from Sky regarding the new EPG? I have a silver Grundig and a force download didn't bring down the new EPG.

This seems to be the case as my digibox is first generation. I installed a new box this morning and its still using the old planner.

Tony, or anyone. Can you tell us again how to do a forced download?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Damien.
Take out your viewing card and un plug the box. Plug it in while holding down the back up button on the digibox until all the lights are lit. You should get an onscreen message, wait two minutes after screen has gone blank again and switch on.

    I hope this helps

I have a PACE box - I think it must be one of the original ones - anyway, it's black! (That's getting technical now..).

Ar aon nós, I did a manual upgrade yesterday (unplug the box, wait a minute, plug it in again while holding the Backup button on the box depressed until all the coloured (getting technical again) lights start flashing - this takes at least 10 seconds) and it worked - in Germany, no less.

Have the new EPG - but there's not much of a difference. You can now press Select for programmes in the future if you want to be reminded when they start. You can also go to the personal planner and specify that you want the digibox to switch on automatically shortly before the program starts. I tested this and it worked - managed to record a programme on BBC last night.

One problem, though. I've noticed that the new software is not as stable as the previous one (with which I never had a problem). Yesterday evening, the box seemed to jam a few times, i.e. it wouldn't respond to the remote control. In the end, I had to unplug it from the mains.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem.

    Greetings from sunny Germany,

    Steo smile.gif

Tony, thanks very much, I remember reading it somewhere during the week, and I forgot to print or commit to memory. I shall try on my Pace box tomorrow night (if it hasn't appeared already!)

    Cheers once more!

New Pace box !! no EPG !! and I wanted to record Eastenders tonight !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

/me goes home to reset his Pace box.

I see we're heading towards post number 1000.

I thought something was happening after I pressed 0 when in the TV Guide but it was just doing a select function on the currently highlighted menu option.

7.30 PM and still no new EPG, even though I have a Pace. There is a Pace digibox in the shop where I work which has the new EPG even though it has no card... It gets the EPG no problem by itself but I who pays £36 per month gets damn all! Grrrr @ Sky!!

First time on the new board - I like it. And far simpler to register than with the old one, plus it's Irish-based and has no annoying pop-ups. Good luck with it, Ronan.

Anyway, on the subject of the planner -

There's also a "Series" link in the new software, though I can't tell if it's operational yet. Probably tied to the future inclusion of seven day listings.

Those still waiting for the update: forcing an upgrade isn't likely to help as this only loads the "official" current version - the one downloaded to your box resides in memory. Best way to have it kick in is to plug out the box and plug it back in. The box then checks if there's newer software in memory and replaces the current version with that. (You'll often see a flicker of the message light when it's taking in chunks of new software or daily listings. This is the "download" in small stages.) It may well be Sunday or Monday before all the other boxes receive that. Currently, even for those with the new planner, there are only still two days worth of listings.

If anyone's interested in having a look at the changes, there's some screenshots at

The planner arrived on my silver Grundig digibox around 7 this morning.

    Looks great.

Even Grundig's are getting new EPG and yet my
Pace 2500 still hasn't got it! Having seen it in my workplace, I must say that I don't like the dark look of it. I prefer the current background. But, I want the new epg!!

Hi, hopoe someone can help me, Do I need to have my Digi Box connected to my phone line to receive the new planer and if so what sort of information can Sky upload from it if any. The reason I'm asking this is because I'm using a FTA card and want to know can Sky find this out if I have my phone connected and cut me off.

    Thanks in advance

I rang sky tech department today and they sent a signal to my decoder while I was on the phone, but it did not work. They told me that all pace and Grundig boxes should have the planner by now and the rest within a month. They told me to contact my installer because my pace wont take the new software,I only have it 2 months and that I might need a replacement. Has anyone else heard of this?

To be honest, I wouldn't believe there help desk most of the time. They have been known to give out incorrect information on an occasion or two

I rang sky today and was told that the Silver Grundig (Model 2.11) has not had the new EPG downloaded yet and that it would be soon!
